  1. For any of my #BHam peeps, I finally visited #BoundaryBay (the pub/bar/restaurant). There was a band playing, and the evening was delightful. I watched my youngest stepdaughter graduate, and met her partner.

    Damn, they're adorable.

  5. A second-year juvie hanging out by the trail. There were four or five other Bald Eagles of varying ages scattered about the nearby large tree.

Weird thing I noticed: its left claws are black while its right claws are off-white. Is that... normal?

  8. This Harrier was parked by the trail doing (as far as I could tell) a lot of random flapping jumps and drops, with occasional short bursts of flight before returning to the same spot. She wasn't hunting, I think, just... playing? Exercising? Either way, she looked amazing

  13. A Northern Harrier, patrolling very close to the trail. A male, I think (which for some reason I've hardly ever seen), based on the very pale outfit, which gives them the nickname "grey ghost"

  18. A trio of Red-necked Pharalopes. All immature or nonbreeding adults, so you won't find any red necks here. They're just passing through, on the way from Alaska or the Yukon to South America

  20. My best ever shots of a Northern Harrier. She happened to be flying in my general direction, and I felt a mix of excitement and panic. Logically I know it wouldn't see me as prey, but there's something primal about these creatures, y'know?

  22. An artsy, hazy landscape on Boundary Bay. The dark thing in the background is a beached sailboat. July 8

  29. A Common Yellowthroat by Boundary Bay. There were a bunch around, singing their songs, but he was the only one that deigned to show himself to us humans
