  1. CW: further waiting lists for bottom surgery

So, back on the train to Den Bosch.

A few more details: They were willing to believe my height and weight and accepted that (
😊), we were talking procedures and that I want a full vagionplasty and the other further stuff.

Essentially I’m now on three further waiting lists:

    1. I have to have a conversation with their own psych (
:blobcat_eyeroll:) to make sure that I really know that I want it I guess, which might happen in June or so. Supposedly that is just one appointment that can be a call.

    2. Because I also want facial surgery there will be a separate intake later for that, but it shouldn’t affect the timeline afterwards.

    3. Once the psych has given the okay, they’ll put me on the actual, actual, definitely for real this time, waiting list for the actual surgery.
That is the waiting list that was until recently 14 months, but is seemingly shrinking significantly at this point, currently at a year and they expect it to go down further but can’t tell yet.

    In any case, it will
at least be more than a year until the actual surgery, so… :blobcat_eyeroll:

  6. So I missed a call from the university hospital in Nijmegen about half an hour ago that they moved the call that we will have on Thursday (about which I had no fucking idea that it was scheduled) from 09:something to 11:30.

    Now the
only thing I want from them at this time, and furthermore fitting with the fact that it was the department for plastic surgery, is a combo surgery (SRS + FFS), and I’ve been on their waiting list for the waiting list for quite a while now… So could it, be that I’ll finally make it to the actual waiting list? With enough luck, this might even mean that my birthday next month will be my last birthday with genitals in birth configuration… That would be amazing! If not, it would still mean that I’d be highly likely to get the surgery in 2027; later than I’d like, but still before turning 35. 😊

  7. I just got an email that I’m on the waiting list for bottom surgery at Radboud! 😊

This is almost 1.5 months after they should have put me on it and I will remark that lying about when I was done with weight-loss turned out even more fair than I thought, since I essentially got onto the list when I’m (almost) actually done.

So it’s apparently half a year or so until the intake and then between another 0.5-1 years and some further time for recovery until I have a body with which I can feel comfortable going into a public
    #onsen again !

(Yes, the onsen is an unreasonably large factor in me wanting to get rid of that stuff.
    😅)

  8. CW: transmasc bottom surgery poll, metoidioplasty poll

If you've had a simple metoidioplasty (no urethra extension), do you pee your pants by accident, due to the surgery?

  9. Dear trans folks who don't know me yet: I'm in the midst of bottom surgery (finished around 8 pm on the 1st, April fool's!), and am writing up the whole experience in detail. I'm keeping it followers only, though.

This is kind of a shameless bid to connect with other trans folks, but if you want to follow along with my adventures, send me a follow request after looking over my profile. Community is how we survive, and at the moment that means me describing all the weird details of having my outie converted to an innie. 😁

So #DutchHellcare apparently refuses to even put me onto the fucking waiting lists for surgeries until I have a BMI ≤ 30. 😞

I guess one of the issues with that is that the reward for getting there is to be put on a waiting list for an event at which you are going to be put on another waiting list.

That said: It definitely provides motivation, so let’s see how things are going to go…

  18. I just had a consultation about my surgeries with #Psytrans.

There are some really good news (
#transjoy) and some instances of #DutchHellCare:

Let’s start with the good stuff:

My endocrinologist actually did a nice thing and accepted my detailed records about how I did
#OpenHRT combined with the one bloodtest I payed myself as sufficient evidence to accept my actual starting date as starting date for HRT.

Thank you Gina, I really and actually appreciate that! (
    #NameAndPraise)

This means that the Dutch healthcare system now accepts that I’ve actually completed my first year of HRT, which is the requirement to start the process for
    #BottomSurgery. 😊

In that regard I’m pretty clear on what I want and at the same time very open about the details: Full
#vaginoplasty, no half-meassures like pure #orchiectomy or zero-depth. How exactly they are doing it is something that I don’t particularly care about, which is good, because this is also pretty much the extend to which they let you choose.

Accordingly this part of the conversation was over pretty quickly and we moved to
    #FacialFeminisationSurgery…

And the first issue is that it is relatively hard to get it covered. You essentially need to have issues passing, because otherwise it would be considered a cosmetic surgery which isn’t covered. Annoying, but on the other hand also somewhat understandable. The more annoying thing is that hair-transplants are almost never covered anyways,

    Which brings us to cost…

So first of all Dutch hell-insurance only pays up to Dutch rates which are not cost-covering for bottom surgery (in case anyone was wondering why the waiting-lists are long: This is one of the reasons, hospitals loose money on it), so of the 20.000€ that one could expect to pay in Thailand, Dutch insurances would only pay 14.000€. So a 6000€ difference probably + travel cost. A lot of money, but I could cover that without too many issues.

Now full FFS can apparently get to 40.000€…

Which would not be completely impossible, but in “pillage retirement-savings”-territory…

Well, in the end I decided to go onto Radbout’s waiting list for a combined surgery (which would also be fully covered by health-insurance, which would be a huge benefit), so if I manage to hit the weight-targets, I might get surgery in maybe like two years or so?

Speaking of it: I really need to loose weight, that will definitely be the biggest problem going forward…
