I was excited to learn, thanks to a flyer at my door, that #DanielLander is challenging #Massachusetts State Senator #WillBrownsberger.
I was once a Brownsberger fan, but my enthusiasm waned as his progressivism did. My last straw was his refusal to support the unionization of legislature staff.
I don't know if Lander can beat him, but Brownsberger needs to feel heat from the left.

Hard, yes, and an exciting time to be in Massachusetts. People are doing great work here. And our governor may not win her election this fall, so we can push for real, positive change now. (Like shutting down Hanscom.)

If the B. Globe is going to have any relevance to our daily lives, it will need to focus more on greed and the oligarchy. These are the thru lines in perhaps every news story. Price gouging, etc.
Let’s remember our past as we fight corporations - from insurance to media to “security” and “defense” contractors to airlines - because the people can win together.
American courts are generally showing integrity and sense. We need to stay strong.

CLIMATE
The threat of AI as it's currently (not) defined. (Energy, water cost. Personal data rights...)
Car dependency. We want the freedom to get places without being forced to insure, own, maintain a giant box on wheels.
Housing. Too little. NO to hedge fund, private equity ownership
A secretive State gov that specifically *helps* ICE kidnap our family, colleagues and neighbors 😡

For (a more local) example, #BosPoli and #MAPoli are good for following government happenings, conversation in a part of America. #USPol is for politics more broadly. One of my biggest wishes for New England this year is more bollards. A driver needs to know that any dangerous or illegal behavior could easily fuck them up. Replace random flex posts with a real bollard. Let’s thoughtfully work to free ourselves from car dependency 🌅

I don’t normally like to see uncontested elections, which happen a lot here in Massachusetts. I’d rather have a choice.
This #Boston mayor’s race was different though. In Josh Kraft, Michelle Wu had a very well funded, serious challenger. But in the preliminary election (with my enthusiastic vote), she mopped the floor with him so decisively that he dropped out and let her run unopposed in the general today. (And whaddaya know, she won.)

I was so happy to hear that #MichelleWu would be running on the ballot unopposed in November that I let out a great big Wu-hoo!
I'm very much in favor of incumbents defending their positions against worthy challengers, but (a) Wu already did that in the preliminary election and (b) IMO there were no worthy challengers this year. I'd rather see her running unopposed then running against someone shitty.

Y'all, this is the most evil piece of legislation I've seen come down the pike in a LONG fucking time. Gonzalez should see this bill shot down, and then retire from public life - no one advocating for this can be trusted with human life, or the apparatus of state.
