oh, and we allow our established users to share invites with others. some of these new spammy accounts were created with invites sent by a user who joined blorbo.social with a legit-looking application reason, but who turned out to be scummy.
eh, it happens. I don't want to turn away people who legit want to be here, but that means shitheads will slip through the screening sometimes.
blorbo havers: sorry about this! you are almost all wonderful and we love having you here.
please keep reporting this new type of spammy account whenever you see it.
(if you're not sure, you can report it anyway, and we'll investigate.)

CW: Question about posting OC art public here
@abyssalstar_blue you can post it public or unlisted or followers-only, whatever you prefer. Doesn't matter if it's fandom blorbos or OCs. Main rules that apply for art are: post NSFW behind a CW, don't post others' art without permission or credit, don't post anything sexual featuring anyone (real or fictional) who looks under 18.
Fine to post commissions too, as long as it doesn't contravene the terms of the commission.

CW: Question about posting OC art public here
While I'm primary almost always OC artist, but I do like to be in fandom space. Like here. Idk maybe because I'm VERY into romantic ship so i'm kinda more comfortable here? (I've try to be in furry instance before but i feel alone being someone who only yap about shipping character xD)
I wonder if I should make my art unlist or public since it's not really a fan art of any media? Is it ok for me to also like post commission work that I've done for a client? Mostly it's kinky furry art. It doesn't break any rules of the instance but I'd love to know the opinion so I will know that I should or shouldn't post it
Thank you in advance!

@t9 it's pretty hard to pin down a firm definition of "sexually suggestive" because, in part, it depends on the intention of the artist, and on how viewers tend to respond to it.
Some art is clearly intended to be sexually suggestive, some is clearly not, and there's a fair amount in the middle ground.
Without a reliable form of telepathy enabling us to see inside artists' brains, this is going to remain an inexact science, and it will continue to be a challenge when it comes to edge cases.
My best guideline is: would an average assortment of people (say, the jury in a criminal trial) consider this art to be sexually suggestive?
For the art you linked, I'd guess that the jury would *not* consider it sexually suggestive. Therefore it's okay.
Edited to add: I also can't see anything in that art that I think requires CW

@veudestrelas we do not define what constitutes an adult human body of any gender.
Adult humans can have breasts of any size, or no breasts, and that's fine.
-
You can keep something of the character's canon appearance when ageing them up.
I think it would be strange *not* to, for fan art. Otherwise it would just seem like an original character and not fan art.
We're not planning to revisit the wording of this rule any time soon. It's taken us several weeks to get to this point and I think we're all ready to call it done for now!
However you are always welcome to ask for further clarification, either by asking me direct or tagging a post with #BlorboMod
You can also browse the BlorboMod tag for other posts about our rules and how they apply in specific circumstances
-
@dynamitedragon I'm getting a bit lost here, I'm sorry.
You can create your own aged-up version of a character without looking up spoiler information about the canon depiction of the character at an older age. That would be a canon-divergent AU version of the character, and that's fine.
-
@ktsgprkl
If the characters are under 18, simply stating in your profile that they are 18+ would *not* be okay.Characters aged up to at least 18 are okay.
However, you can't just post artwork of underage characters with a winking smiley face and say "they're 18, really, trust me, hehe"
I know that's a fine line to walk. It's hard to be precise in this, and there are going to be edge cases.
-
@dynamitedragon
Aged up characters are fine.Characters who come of age during canon are fine, if shown after they come of age.
-
For fantasy races with different rates of ageing and maturity:
- no sexual art of non-human characters who would be under 18 if human
- no sexual text about non-human characters who would be under 14 if human -
We've revised the wording of our rule about underage sexual content.
The revised rule is:
**No sexually explicit or suggestive images of any person or character under 18**
Do not post sexually explicit or suggestive images of any person under 18. This includes art of fictional characters as well as real people.
If a fictional character is considered sexually mature in the original work, but a casual observer not involved with the fandom is likely to perceive the character as being underage, do not post sexual images of that character.
We allow some kinds of text-only depictions of characters under 18 in sexual situations, if *all* of the following apply to the character:
* At least 14 years old
* *Not* pre-pubescent
* FictionalIn addition, you must use CW on this kind of post.
Sexually explicit or suggestive real-person fic (RPF) about anyone under 18 is never allowed, even if the person is over 18 now.

@sv4649 I don't see anything sexual about either of these. They're fine to post on Blorbo.social
(We don't allow *sexual* art of characters under 18. Non-sexual art is fine.)

CW: Question Regarding Aged Up Characters
...
Characters aged up to 18 or older have always been allowed here.
Can you give an example of the character's original age and the age that you intend to age them up to?

@K4W411QU33N43V3R Oh okay, yep that looks like a cool site!
If the artist has given permission to repost, you can repost the art here too (with credit).
If you're directly posting anything NSFW, use CW and appropriate tags. If it's SFW, you don't need to use CW. You also don't need CW if a link target is NSFW but the post itself is SFW.
Linking is pretty much always okay, if you're linking to something public.

@stickpenalties we've just been talking about this today and realised we don't have an agreed position on it. I don't think it's come up before.
I would say yes, for now.
But that's just me making a temporary call, not an official blorbo.social position.
I'll update you when the mod team has settled on a position.

We're currently reviewing the following rule: "No lolicon, shotacon, cub, or any similar images"
What we allow on Blorbo.Social *won't* change.
However, our wording needs some work to make it clearer, less ambiguous, and easier to moderate consistently.
When we're ready to publish the clarifications to that rule, I'll:
- make a post about it
- update our **About** page
- update the wording of the **Rules** listing, if we decide to change any wording in the rule itself -

@angelicambrosia are we talking about adults having fun sexy times with age regression stuff?
If so, that's fine. Just make sure to use appropriate tags (so people can filter if they need to) and CW for anything explicit.
-
@QueerAndFunny oh that's fine. I'm not that familiar with pokephilia and hadn't associated the word 'feral' with it. Thanks for clarifying!

CW: re: Long post, personal thoughts on some sites and socmed, brief mention of hateful attitudes
@spillingdown @sv4649 there's no requirement to post only fandom-related stuff. In fact you don't have to post *any* fandom stuff. If you're not interested in fandom, blorbo.social's probably not a great instance for you. But if you're occasionally fannish about anything at all, and you're cool with our fandom focus & rules, you're welcome here.
You're not required to post in English. Any language is fine.
(When we need to moderate posts in languages that the mod team doesn't speak, we usually rely on machine translation.)
Yes you can post written fic about age gap relationships, as long as everyone is post-pubescent. Make sure you use CW and appropriate tags.
Before today, I didn't know that https://freaksonly.space/ existed. We are currently federated with them. However, the mod team needs to check out their rules on posting loli/shota. If they allow it there, we'll probably have to limit media, the same as we do with aethy. That would mean that you can follow accounts there and see the text of posts, but would need to click through to view the images. We'll look into it and provide an update when we know more about it.
You're welcome to post eruguro here, following the same rules that we have for other NSFW art (use CW, no art of underage characters).
-
@veudestrelas yes, aged-up art of underage characters is fine. To be safe, it's probably best to state that the characters are aged up.
Other problematic and dead-dove content is fine too.
Use CW for any NSFW or dead-dove content.
If you're not sure whether to use a CW, I'd recommend using CW anyway.
You can always add the #onblorbing tag to your post if you want to check whether a specific post needs CW.
(You can also tag me specifically, but I might not be able to reply quickly.)

Hi new people from aethy.com, and welcome!
You can post here a lot of what you used to post on aethy, but we have one significant rule that's different:
> No lolicon, shotacon, cub, or any similar images
There are some other rule differences, but that's the biggest one.
Please read our **About** page for more info about our rules, community, and moderation. https://blorbo.social/about
If you have specific questions about blorbo.social, you can @ me in a post, or tag your question post with #onblorbing or #BlorboMod

For those who've recently moved here from aethy, welcome!
I understand that there's been some recent discussion over there about whether it's legal to repost fanart without permission from the artist.
That sounds like a not-fun argument that we'll stay well away from.
We have a rule on blorbo.social that we don't allow reposting fanart without permission because it's a shitty thing to do to artists.
If you have permission, repost away! And please credit the artist too.

@citro
When a blorbo.social user sees a post on our federated timeline, it means that a copy of the post is stored on the blorbo server.For the purposes of complying with our rules, it doesn't matter whether you boost it.
If you report a post from another server, we consider whether it complies with blorbo's rules & act accordingly. We don't consider the other server's rules.

@plunderheavenblind
Also, really nasty antis aren't allowed here on blorbo. If you notice a blorbo.social member being an aggressive or hostile anti, please report (if you feel comfortable doing so). If they're breaching our rules, we'll show them the door.

Poll result is that the majority of voters would like us to show only fandom-related items in the Explore (trending) section.
However, since a significant minority want us to leave as is, we'll just do it for a trial of a few weeks.
I'm currently on holidays and not able to check the trends every day, so I'll plan to start the trial when I'm back home after 18th May.
-
Right now, we don't edit the trending posts, tags or links pages on Blorbo.Social. Whatever's trending on the wider fediverse is what our Blorbo-havers see.
We have the capability to curate the trending items for our server. For example, we could choose to show only trends that are fandom-related in some way.
Added: Link to Explore page: https://blorbo.social/explore
If you're a Blorbo-haver with an account on Blorbo.Social, would you like us to curate the trending items?
