if there's not already a group for your niche, you can make one very easily! in a post, just @ “@yourgroupnamehere @ a.gup.pe” (no spaces) with whatever you want to name your group. if you build it, they will come

1. set up a hashtag relay to see MORE content showing up in your hashtag. let's say theres a specific fandom you're into, but the hashtag you follow isn't picking up much. if you follow the quick & easy steps in this post, you'll see it all! 👁️

For friends and enemies on Aethy, freaksonly, or other media-rejected instances: please use alt text if you can! Especially those migrating back because of the good mews ❤️

Even just a couple words like "drawing of huge boobs" is AMAZING - it helps us on Blorbo see what images y'all are posting, since we can't load the image preview.

Examples of what images from media-rejected instances look like for us on Blorbo (using Tusky Nightly, may look different on different clients). Hell, this is what Blorbo (or other non-rejected) posts look like when I have bad internet and can't load images too. And boy do I have bad internet often!

I am much more likely to share and reply to your beautiful post if I know what the image is before clicking it, especially because sometimes the image doesn't even load when I click it!

Remember to customize your filters and keep anything you don't like out of sight and out of mind. Filters take into account not just the text on your post, but also text in the content wrapper AND the attached media's alt text! :blobcatmelt: I love Mastodon's filter function.

For artists that do commissions and may be looking for a platform with freedom of adult art (what with shutdowns and TOS crackdowns of other sites), Artconomy seems like a cool platform.

The TOS is fairly open in art 'must be legal content in Texas' and 'must be tagged accurately so it can be filtered' and 'must have the proper content rating set.'

This means NSFW/harder kink is allowed. So you can post kink art that may not be allowed on Blorbo.

The focus is furry art, but humans and otherwise are allowed. I completed a commission on Artconomy and found it easy n smooth.

I hope we can put our eggs in many baskets, and use sites like Artconomy in addition to our personal sites and social media 💖

A tip for folks using a lot of hashtags: they will all stack neatly under your post if you type them on their own line under your text post! #Hashtags used in the middle of your toot will not do this, and I would suggest avoiding using them mid-text like that anyway because they make for a bad experience for people who use screen readers.

@veudestrelas yes, aged-up art of underage characters is fine. To be safe, it's probably best to state that the characters are aged up.

Other problematic and dead-dove content is fine too.

Use CW for any NSFW or dead-dove content.

If you're not sure whether to use a CW, I'd recommend using CW anyway.

You can always add the #onblorbing tag to your post if you want to check whether a specific post needs CW.

we run different software (vanilla mastodon) compared to aethy which had its own custom fork (ruffy)!

if youre bothered by the current design for CWs, theres a user style here: https://userstyles.world/style/18496/mastodon-cw-no-barber-poles --or i believe the next update is reverting it.

in general poking around that site for userstyles might help make things more comfortable, because ruffy's frontend is pretty different to vanilla mastodon. youll need to manually add blorbo.social to the list of sites they apple to though... (if you dont have a user style manager, you can grab stylus here: https://github.com/openstyles/stylus)

also, while you cant add a dedicated second post button with a preferred privacy level, you CAN change your default privacy level 🎉
