@LordWoolamaloo new new #UKLabour, just like the old, old Tories.
A podcast I was listening to last week was arguing about whether #Starmer was the worst #Labour prime minister ever. He wasn't, simply because he was never a Labour prime minister. He was (like #Blair) a conservative prime minister who just happened to lead the Labour party.
#Burnham seems determined to follow in his tracks.

#CraigMurray | The Ditching of Nigel Farage
"Blair killed hope and progress – in addition to the millions he killed in wars. He now rakes in large multiples of the money made by Farage, from even dodgier sources, while receiving none of the media scrutiny.
Farage of course did not change history on his own. He was relentlessly promoted by both state and corporate media for decades. He has been by a mile the most frequent guest on BBC Question Time, and the relentless media promotion started when he ought to have been an obscure figure, from a party, UKIP, which had never won an election."

“Burnham must break with Starmer's dishonest politics, or fail just like him”
by Jonathan Cook on Substack
“Keir Starmer’s announcement on Monday that he was stepping down as Labour leader – and therefore as Britain’s prime minister – is a remarkable turnaround for the man whose election victory less than two years ago was uniformly heralded as a triumph.
In fact, Starmer rode into 10 Downing Street on a grand deception, propped up by the UK’s establishment media, that has proven the key to his undoing”

How long will Andy last?
Looks like #Burnham will win #Makerfield, and be Prime Minister by September. 🤮
But he has already committed to most #Starmer policies. So his popularity will soon crash. But when?
I think his trajectory will be a sort of accelerated #GordonBrown. GB took over as PM in June 2007. His poll boost peaked in late Sept. By end of 2007 his numbers were back to about the same as #Blair's.
Times are harsh. I reckon the Burnham bounce will be over before Christmas.

‘What a sad, backward-looking government this is: led by a man with the political nous of Rishi Sunak, still scared of the ghost of Liz Truss, and strangest of all beholden to Blairites, who themselves lived in the shadow of Margaret Thatcher.’
I just can’t understand the attraction of the #Blair era of politicians. There was a neoliberal taint to them in the 90’s. Vote #Starmer get has beens.

‘About 308,000 people are employed directly in businesses such as solar panel installation, home insulation, wind turbine manufacturing and electric vehicles.
When their supply chains and related businesses are taken into account, this reaches 1.1m jobs, and accounts for £105bn in “gross value added”, a measure of economic activity similar to GDP.
That equates to nearly 4% of the UK’s economic output.’
#Farage , #Badenoch and #Blair want this cancelled and for what?

In his 2009 essay for Cato Unbound #Thiel declared, “I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.” Seventeen years later, Palantir, seed-funded by the CIA in 2005, appears to be intent on dismantling both.

@anathema_device Look at his record
- pushing the Neoliberal agenda
- encouraging/taking part in unnecessary wars that have destroyed millions of lives and destabilised the world
- pushing US technology into UK defence and public services
- massive personal and family enrichment
- the ‘Bored of Peace’
- one of the ‘Climate change is happening, but it is too late to do anything about it so lets just burn fossil fuels’ brigade
I could go on, but 🤢🤮 -

"The most tiresome aspect of the whole business is the pretense that Blair is speaking for himself and offering his deep thoughts on the state of the world, informed by his experience of high office. Even those who question the value of his ideas are only willing to say that Blair may be out of touch with contemporary Britain.
The reality, as everyone knows full well, is that Blair has offered his Institute for Global Change as a glorified advertising billboard for its wealthy funders. The tech billionaire and Trump ally Larry Ellison gave Blair’s vanity project $130 million between 2021 and 2023, and pledged another $218 million by the end of 2025.
That largesse enabled the institute to increase its number of staff dramatically, from two hundred to nearly a thousand. Every time Blair rails against net-zero targets or gushes about the virtues of AI, he is reading out a sponsored message from Ellison and his other funding sources.
That is just one of several ways in which Blair has sold his services as a mouthpiece to the highest bidder. It is a form of journalistic malpractice to report on Blair’s call for greater subservience to the Trump administration without mentioning his intimate role in Trump’s grotesque scheme to transform Gaza into a real estate opportunity for his son-in-law Jared Kushner and assorted cronies."

Is it possible that #Streeting and #Burnham have both been tuning into #GarysEconomics podcast?
Has #Blair inadvertently united the #Labour Party in reminding them that their raison d’être is to fight #inequality ?
Have we finally got two potential leaders who realise it’s the Left they need to be wooing, not the Right?

Meanwhile #Burnham reckons he needs an extra day to respond to the #Blair missive. Has he got the political swiftness of foot of #Starmer (ie. A delayed inelegant plod).
The ming vase strategy to Downing Street is going to quickly look a bit obvious…it’s understandable, but not appealing to current electorate.

If #Blair thought #Streeting would delight in his intervention as the candidate most often described as Blairite he’ll be disappointed.
Again, Streeting is saying all the right things, but whether we believe them or not is another matter…

CW: re: UKPol Blair
The man who committed the country to an illegal invasion and helped murder iraqi's by the thousands due to being pulled blindly into American wars is here telling everyone the UK should have been more blindly willing to follow the latest stupid American wars of aggression.
If Blair shouldn't be in a care home for the insane he should be up in the Hague charged with war climes.
And here he is, still doing the 80s thing of encouraging American war crimes.

What is it about the AI companies that invested billions of pounds in your funds and companies which first made you think they might have the solution to modern ills Mr Blair?
Was it the first hundred million dollars, or did the subsequent hundreds of millions of dollars also help convince you?
