Eh... 😶The saddle and rear rack are not stealable? Surely thieves could also use a spare saddle and seat post. 🤷♀️
But seriously... I don't care what reason or excuse they have... It's a terrible thing to leave the frame, er, to steal anyone's #bike or parts of it. 🙄 #bikeTheft

Maybe it's hard to feel too much sypathy for people who have $6,000 racing bikes stolen. They have money, right? But as more people turn to ebikes to replace cars, a streamlined and brazen economy of stolen bikes is a serious problem and impediment to better transportation and climate policy.

Welll, my wife's bike got stolen while she worked a short away shift in SF at the pediatric hospital. Unfortunately, broad daylight, in front of the door, with lots of pedestrian traffic and security nearby do not a lot. The guy cut the U-Lock in front of everyone and just took off.

Clearly there's a lot of things going wrong here - from a bike rack that seems like it was designed by someone with no clue about bike theft, to cyclists who have no clue about what locks are trivial to defeat, to staff and security services who don't give a damn.
If it were up to me I'd replace it with storage lockers, have everyone use D locks, and install stocks which any bike thieves would be locked into as well.
