omg my first impression of #BeyondCitadel ‘s demo is really really good. I feel like this game could easily become my next #FPS hyperfixation

it feels like most of their gameplay is an iteration on #HideousDestructor with a lot of options to start with a more arcade-y experience and then up the complexity as the player gets familiar with the game’s systems (which is a brilliant idea and a fantastic way to make an HDest-like game more accessible)

the way guns control is really nice, and has a similarly autistic level of gun simulation as #HDest but I feel like they’ve iterated on HDest’s control scheme in many ways - making it a little bit simpler and more accessible, at the expense of some extra arcadey-ness

the character deaths feel very guro-y which makes me a bit uncomfortable but I don’t have anything against guro and I don’t think it’s going to be offputting enough to get me to stop playing

it’s a shame that they don’t have an in-depth healing system like in HDest. but honestly if they did it would probably lean into the guro even more so I’m not sure if I’d actually want that lol

also the story seems to be a very Evangelion-inspired hyper-mega-traumapain experience so I’ve been deliberately ignoring that. thankfully it’s told in an incredibly vague Soulslike way for now so I haven’t been able to put the pieces together and I hope to keep it that way lol
