Is memoir a genre my character would read?

I've got one character who's a chef and she would totally read not just cookbooks but memoirs by other chefs, especially folks like Julia Child.

Have I ever written a memoir or series of essays that might count towards a memoir? Why or why not?

I've never written anything even close to a memoir, although several of my uncles have (it's a weird family thing--neither of them has written anything else and they self-pubbed).

I guess I just don't think my life is interesting enough.

Do I read memoir and what is my favorite?

I didn't used to read memoir (or any nonfiction!), but as I've gotten older I've started reading more widely and begun truly enjoying memoir.

My favorite author is Adm. William H. McRaven (Ret.). His stories of time spent as a Navy Seal are remarkable, and I highly recommend the audiobooks, which he reads. Try Sea Stories.
