The late Ric Ocasek of Cars fame … Playboy Playmate Marianne Gravatte in this video from his first solo album and a couple years later, marries a Swimsuit Illustrated swimsuit model (Paulina Porizkova). Le sigh. Guitar solo kicks ass, though. Tune coulda been on a Cars album.

Ric Ocasek of The Cars “scored” in the early 80s in more ways than one, Playboy playmate in one of the music videos off his debut solo album and then he marries a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model a couple years later. Was he really happy though? Dunno but I’ve always liked the song from the first time I heard it 41 years ago in Minneapolis.

Definitely coulda been a Cars tune but Ric decided instead to release his debut solo album two years before “Heartbeat City” in ‘84. The guitar solo’s a scorcher.
