🚨🦇 Bat friends of the Fedi! Help me help the sky puppies plz!
Are you in the US (and some parts of Canada) and occasionally available to drive an injured bat from the person who found it to the local rehabber who can help it? Especially if you are in central Florida where I am, please reach out to me here, or via Signal!
We constantly get calls for bat help from folx who are just a little too far away for me to get to myself, and the finder isn’t always in a position to drive themselves. Volunteer transporters often make the lifesaving difference for our bats in need. We even set up relays where the trip can be broken up if you can’t drive the full distance. And Bat World Sanctuary reimburses fuel mileage!!!
Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you’re curious, I’m happy to go into special interest mode, LOL.
This is a no-contact situation; you pick up a bat that’s already in a box and drive it to the rehabber who contacted you. It’s super low pressure. If you’re not available they just go to the next volunteer on the list. No biggie.

Oh wow, so Vanhoef passive randomization defeats randomized MAC address frames in ~96% of Android phones? And throw in a previously unknown flaw in the way wireless chipsets handle low-level control frames on 100% of the devices these researchers tested allowing them to subsequently track the aforementioned hardware. This paper seems to be a bit old now. Does anybody know of any more up to date research on MAC randomization in the wild? #infosec #networking #security #batsignal

Just got home from a long volunteer day with multiple bat rescue transports adding up to 175 miles.
–One Northern Yellow Bat with her three pups.

Be careful when trimming trees and palms, several of our SE bat species roost in dry palm fronds or spanish moss.

Another #BatSignal came in tonight! Picked up two baby northern yellow bats that had been knocked from palm tree during trimming. 😭
Thankful that they alerted the homeowner right away and they reached out for help, especially because we don’t have many of these friendos in our part of the state (although they’re very common in other areas).Blurry picture, but here are the cute twinsies posing for #BatsInBlankets

Today was a busy #BatSignal volunteer day with two separate mama + smol bab groundings. Maybe related to some stormy weather last night? Here’s one of the itty bitty babies I dropped off with a rehabber :blobbigheart:
It’s quite young, but healthy aside from some minor dehydration and should be releasable once it has a chance to grow and learn to fly!

I have a friend who is being harassed and threatened semi-anonymously via Facebook. She knows *who* it is, but Facebook and Police are characteristically being uselss.

It's troubling that VP Harris is so far out of the spotlight. As the person selected to be "a heartbeat from the presidency" it seems risky to not have her at his side more. Privately, I hope they have a plan to boost the hell out of her if Biden is looking unlikely to win in November due to health or the media's unrelenting age bias reporting. The possibility of losing to Trump has such high stakes, I cannot imagine there not being a solid Plan B in the works. Waiting for the #BatSignal

I am trying to draw a rectangle into a viewport and then get the Image out of it.
There is a twist, I need this to be on-the-fly and doable without Node classes.
I made a tiny project in a repo:

I live in a suburban area but have a small wooded area nearby so I am use to seeing the occasional wildlife roam around. Recently I have been seeing a bat fly over my backyard every time I look outside, well mostly every time. After a couple of weeks of this I started thinking I might have some sort of super sensory perception and feel when the bat is enroute!
It occurred to me yesterday that maybe instead we just have a whole lotta bats!
