  1. Pickles to be served along with doenjang jjigae 된장찌개. Shiitake, cucumber, cabbage kimchi, daikon, and red European radishes. #banchan #반찬

  2. After our lengthy threads yesterday about #banchan, #kimchi, and #fermentation, I managed to get 2 styles of cucumbers made. One is 오이무침, seasoned Korean cucumber, and the other is fermenting spicy dill pickles, made with the last of my kimchi brine. Pretty sure I added way too much salt to the first, and too many Alleppo chili flakes to the second, but I'm more likely to eat these than plain old cukes, especially in the quantity I received.
    Today is also meant to be #borscht day, but I'm struggling with vertigo, so I've been watching #kdrama (Sh**ting Stars) instead.

  4. Another thing the #fediverse made me buy and do: Stuff for Korean style meal prep, aka #banchan

    Several #ADHD folks on my timeline talked about how this kind of #MealPrep with 5-10 min time per dish helped them to get food prep done, and the various combinations helped them to stay interested in the prepared food. So I had to try.

    Prepping one dish per day and combining it with the prepped dishes from the days before plus rice is rather cheap, and rather tasty. Also, most of it is #vegan

  6. Having a feeling again that the work of #Banchan is pretty important to keep doing. We need to show that these systems can work, that there’s better ways to build and that we can have a better world for it

  7. With our new #Banchan Works feature in final testing and landing soon, we’re looking at what major features to do next. The main choice is between:

    👉🏻 A “Trello”-style board for studios, optionally public, based on commission status

    👉🏻 Global, automatic slot management. You configure how many hours a commission will take, then you see how many hours you’re ready to accept commissions for. Slots then get automatically managed based on how much you can still take on

  8. all the main work for the new #Banchan Works feature is done! Including a lot of magic for garbage collecting Uploads which is mostly exciting backend stuff for me.

    Once I write a few more tests and get some newly-broken tests passing (broken because of test-related reasons, not actual errors), this'll be ready to merge into our staging server so folks can test it out, and if it looks good, it'll land in banchan.art soon after that! I'm so excited!

  9. There we go. I think this is all that's gonna go in the new #Banchan Work pages! See new call-to-action to get people to buy an artist's stuff. Also added a "related works" section with an Algorithm™️ (it's just a basic thing that matches words in descriptions/titles/tags)

  10. Made massive amounts of progress with the new #Banchan Works feature. All the listing/searching stuff is in place. The Studio Portfolio and Offering Gallery have both been replaced by Work listings, as well.

    The only things left are Work deletion (which is a bit involved), and creating new Works easily from completed Commissions, which I think is going to be fairly easy in practice once I sit down and do it.

    The rest is just making sure tests pass and things are performing well, and then I can merge it into the main so folks can give it a whirl on the dev server! :) I expect it'll need a bit of tweaking before it goes live in prod.

  12. #Banchan Work page initial version is done. You can create them, view them, and edit them now, including adding and removing uploads to it, and sorting them with drag and drop.

    Next up: start integrating them into the rest of the site, including replacing the janky “portfolio” feature with a work listing instead.

  14. Honestly I should’ve learned CSS properly and started off with it. I’m slowly starting to shift #Banchan towards stylesheets instead of utility classes, and it’s… much nicer.

    It also means I might be able to reduce the massive 800kb blob (!) of css I’m sending (compared to the tiny 15kb of js!)

  15. Bilan après 3 jours : tout est absolument délicieux, je passe maximum 2 minutes en cuisine à chaque repas, et je mange à chaque fois un plat frais et différent du précédent.

    Grosse réussite, donc, je vais continuer la semaine prochaine et chercher d'autres recettes à essayer 👀

  16. Work pages for #Banchan are coming along nicely. These will let you showcase your works/art and they’ll act as nice public pages that clients can share to show off their commissions. They’ll link back to the studio and offerings, too, to get folks to commission you more!

  18. sigh, ok, I could use y'all's thoughts here.

    I just got a pretty generous sponsorship on GitHub, and when I looked, it's a company that does Ethereum stuff.

    Should I return the money, or should I instead use it to further fund #Banchan and thus use the money for a good cause? Should I just keep it? (I'm pretty skeeved by blockchain stuff)

With #Banchan, we've been working on a new explicit genAI policy (the current ToS predates the proliferation of genAI nonsense), where we pretty much ban most use of it, but things like using it for getting a rough initial sketch is allowed, as well as using things like Photoshop's Content-Aware Fill.

    I think it's ok for tools to improve our lives! But they actually have to improve our lives, and they can't do it while making the lives of anyone else worse.

  20. Ended up getting a lot of work done on #Banchan between yesterday and today, fixing some long-standing bugs right out the gate! Honestly, if I'd known these were gonna be that easy, I would've fixed them long ago. :|

  21. I’m so backlogged on foss stuff. As soon as I’m able to, I need to:

    👉🏻 wrap up sure discussions/executive decisions and release a KDL 2.0 RC

    👉🏻 notify the (many!) kdl implementors about the RC for final feedback, and so they have a chance to update their parsers

    👉🏻 tag a new version of miette with an MSRV bump and a long tail of contribution patches.

    👉🏻 probably before the above, respond to a bunch of pending discussions and make some executive decisions

    👉🏻 update kdl-rs to parse kdl2.0 specifically, and fill out some missing APIs

    👉🏻 go through several of my smaller crates (supports-color, is-ci, etc) and make sure there’s no unreleased patches. Tag and release as needed.

    Ideally, I’ll be able to use this long weekend for all this. And if it all works out, this will kickstart my coding engines a bit and I’ll be able to get back to #Banchan work, which really needs attention again.

    As you may have noticed, this also means #orogene is going in the backburner for a bit. But that’s ok. There’s no rush on it and the thing I was working on is huge and stressful so I don’t feel like touching it again yet :)
