Bad book update:
I am bailing.
At 41 % on page 345 of what my ereader tells me is a 868 page text.
There are six books in the series all published since 2019 with what I (now suspect) is a vanity publisher.
Title is The Blood Covenant by Emily Bex.
I do NOT recommend it, I regret reading as much as I did and I cannot stress enough that it is a Bad Book.
I wish the author all the best but - Oof.

Okay - bad book still bad but was entertainingly even though I wasn't really enjoying it, more enduring it?
27% in and was thinking this isn't so terrible actually - but then someone did something with a strawberry that I actually found *offensive*, so one more thing and I am going to definitely permanently Bounce
Also am unsure if the Author even knows the meaning of Consent?
[Don't think I'm a prude but Dear Goddess do not use Soft Seeded Fruit like that !]

Me: This Book ! :: proceeds to explain why current read is infuriating::
Boyf: Ah. Let me know when you stop reading the terrible, no good, bad, worldbuilding text.
Me: You think I'm over exaggerating ?
Boyf: No. I think the author has just put no thought in extrapolating the *wider implications of anything*.
Let me know when you give up on it. -
"He was assailed, once again, by the scent of Roses"
Huh?
He was attacked by a smell?
I fear I may have fallen into bad book territory once again
Later on a character finishes a phone call by 'signing off' which.. uhm.. what?
[Edit - Didn't explain myself well here, I know that being affected by Sensory input can cause discomfort / pain in real life - so it is a thing that happens ! Just that in the context of the book it was an odd choice of words]
