The cochins and Polish chicks are assorted. I have some gorgeous coloring but most will be white. However this little darling will be lavender.

The brooder has been washed (on the inside) with dawn and I've got the warmer plugged in. I'll check the temp of the box when I get home tonight.
I'm using a ceramic heat element in a reflecive porcelain sockets light fixtures.
The purpose of the metal grate is to keep cats out not chicks in. Once the chicks can have closer to normal temps they get moved to a wire cage.

I have 4 roosters. Two Spitzhaubens, one Jersey Giant and a Satin. The satin lives with the pigeons because he's so gentle the other chickens pick on him.

I was in a state of panic. I let the chickens out of their run to clean it. Did a head count as I put them back. I was missing my oldest hen, Poppy. Looked all over the yard, shook the bag of meal worms. Couldn't find her.

I took the panel off it was too heavy to lift with it on. Got the frame put up. The base is waaaay wider than I intended. This also where I stopped for today. It's meant to be moved around but that's no happening without wheels.
