I've always loved instruments made by Yamaha
I've always had the best of experiences with them.
Wether it is their
- woodwinds
- brass
- string
- electrical instruments
- Bass Guitars
I have always had a great matrix of experiences. I love their craftmanship and dedication towards the work, from the simple recorder which is designed and produced with the same care as their hand crafted brass string and other acoustical instruments, to their robotically produced electrical instruments
Same is my experience with Yamaha PA and studio audio equipment. Regardless of the age of the design, the equipment is sturdy, can withstand electrical fluctuations, works proper for years, and is maintainable, provided you follow the service manuals to the letter
This is one example of a mixing console, a sample of PA equipment I have from Yamaha. I use it for radio, live sound, TV studio and many other purposes

102"Bose released the Application Programming Interface (API) documentation for its SoundTouch speakers today, putting a silver lining around the impending end-of-life (#EoL) of the expensive home theater devices.
"In October, Bose announced that its SoundTouch Wi-Fi speakers and soundbars would become dumb speakers on February 18. At the time, Bose said that the speakers would only work if a device was connected via #AUX, #HDMI, or #Bluetooth (which has higher latency than Wi-Fi).
"After that date, the speakers would stop receiving security and software updates and lose cloud connectivity and their companion app, the Framingham, Massachusetts-based company said. Without the app, users would no longer be able to integrate the device with music services, such as Spotify, have multiple SoundTouch devices play the same audio simultaneously, or use or edit saved presets.
"The announcement frustrated some of Bose’s long-time customers, some of whom own multiple SoundTouch devices that still function properly. Many questioned companies’ increasingly common practice of bricking expensive products to focus on new devices or to minimize costs, or because they’ve gone through acquisitions or bankruptcy. SoundTouch speakers released in 2013 and 2015 with prices ranging from $399 to $1,500.
"Today, Bose had better news. In an email to customers, Bose announced that #AirPlay and #SpotifyConnect will still work with SoundTouch speakers after EoL, expanding the wireless capabilities that people will still be able to access.
"Additionally, SoundTouch devices that support #AirPlay2 will be able to play the same audio simultaneously.
"The SoundTouch app will also live on, albeit stripped of some functionality."

@mainframed767 @smallsco Apple’s default/standard compiler for A/UX is K&R only, so it will compile only old/specially prepared C sources.
Then, there’s the “extra” ANSI compiler from Apple. http://archive.3rz.de/Mac/a-ux/A-UX%20Developer%20Tools%201.1%20(Apple%20ANSI%20C%20compiler).iso.gz that I archived from original CDs. It’s more capable and was part of the SDK for A/UX 3.
Or you could use gcc.

Looking forward to Aux taking off for Nix users who want to get off Mr. Nix's/Nix Corp's Wild Ride but still find the underlying experience useful and don't want to just use Guix (too much for me).

Sigh, so apparently Tom Berek of Steering Committee is now working for Anduril. You know, that same Anduril that caused an open letter denouncing MIC sponsoring community events. I don't see how it's acceptable for SC members to work for Anduril, especially in the wake of the whole, you know...
The failure to provide an update to his conflict of interest (and two SC members stating their personal opinions that they don't see much of an issue) is a breach of trust. This means, once again, that the community has to organize by themselves, and demand accountability from people in power. To this end, please spread this information far and wide, and give @nyanbinary a hug. And go support your local #Lix and #Aux representatives.

How would you like to declare supported cross-platform build targets in #Nix with #Aux? My current possible routes are:
- Support all combinations of platform build/host/target combinations, but output non-native builds with "cross" in the name
- Explicitly set supported build / host / target systems per package and support all combinations of them
- Explicitly set supported triples for supported platforms -
I wrote a mandelbrot program for A/UX that uses the pre-ANSI C compiler it provides and the early version of curses without color or drawing character support. It was an interesting project! It should work on any UNIX variant. I've built and run it on A/UX and on modern Linux with a problem. The last photo is it running on Linux. #mandlebrot #unix #aux #mac #retrocomputing @slithymatt

Увы, но 90е давно закончились, Джей и Боб постарели — внезапно Джею уже за 50 (и двое детей), зато осталась возможность оживить давно умершее и насладиться духом тех удивительных лет.
