Hello! Thanks again for all of your incredible work.
I've just completed a week of nicotine patches (very low dose) for what the GP thinks is #LongCOVID however, I really don't think it is (symptoms started 2 days after Shingrix vaccine, so....). Anyway, the patches didn't do anything for me (maybe b/c I don't have LC?) but I've read they do work for others for #dysautomnia #autonomic issues.

So, I've finally (finally!) found a doctor who has listened and appears to be on the right track.
After 12months of symptoms that are, at times, very difficult to live with, I appear to have a diagnosis, of sorts.
I have the #autonomic (#dysautomnia really) symptoms of #LongCOVID despite NOT having had #COVID19 (to my knowledge). Having a COVID vaccine followed by a shingles vaccine one week later was the trigger.
The treatment?
Nicotine patches! Worth a try!

after a certain point even the strongest of minds will capitulate, they will fold, and they will admit to whatever is demanded just to be able to rest. they may have no recollection, no memory, nor cognitive capacity to comprehend the passage of time... the brain eventually shuts down non-critical functions, leaving only the autonomic nervous system to maintain its most basic functions.
they'll give you five minutes that feels like an hour, six that feels like a month, but never truly rest, prodded back to the conscious realm to simply say, "yes... yes, yes... just leave me be..."
what may remain of those scattered memories? just rest your head little one, and you may see, in the mind's eyes, that nothing ever changed... "WAKE UP! five minutes!"

CW: My health and Autonomic dysfunction
We're acclimating my #ParkinsonsPlus from #winter to #summer, & it takes a toll on me.
Without going into too much detail, but I'm always open to #AMA, my #autonomic system, the things your body does on its own, is shot.
Season changes means adapting to new stimuli, like heat, allergens, etc.
Reactions to stimuli includes passing out, dangerous blood pressures, heart issues, etc.
We're slowly introducing my body back to the new season, adjusting meds, etc

Although #RSV is a serious #health issue, this RSV #ad by #GSK promoting their medication is disruptive in the home and also causes auditory issues for me and others with certain health issues and it needs to get pulled off the air, esp local TV stations

Interesting, but beyond my ability to understand fully.
Still, I wonder why they did an active stand test vs a tilt table test. Wouldn't this miss lots of cases of neurally mediated hypotension/delayed drop in blood pressure?
Also, I hope I'm using the #MedMastodon tag correctly. I hope it's okay to use it to tag any medical info, not just posts for or about medical professionals.
