Well, my waiting around all morning was rewarded! I got the delivery of printed notebooks for the holiday event coming up at the studio. The watercolour cats came out really well.

When the autumn colours take over the ground plants and trees in Lapland it is called ruska, and that is what inspired my series of repeat fabric designs by the same name. On Bluesky there's a "favourite cat art that I made" thread, and while I can't decide on what's my favourite, and it's been a few years since I last painted cats, I'm proud of the way I captured the character of Seppo the sphinx cat. (And how well he works on a mug, sending passive-aggressive messages to co-workers on coffee breaks.) Original watercolour from 2014.

It was pointed out to me that I've been letting my husband wander around wearing a Willow Tit t-shirt that I designed and painted (the original watercolour illustration) while neglecting to share the t-shirt with everyone else. One of the non-nature highlights for me on our family trip to Lapland was when the teenagers both decided, on the same day, to wear t-shirts I had created. The 13YO was kinda miffed that the 15YO put on the nice tits shirt first, so she "couldn't wear the same thing".

I do paint other stuff, besides fire and cats...like birds. These are a group of specific birds, not related in genus, but in the English common name.
