ARISS News Release No. 26-28 ARISS SSTV Event Scheduled for this Weekend

5/8/2026

May 8, 2026 — Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) announces a Slow Scan TV (SSTV) event to be held this weekend. The event is scheduled to begin Friday, May 8 at 10:30 UTC | 6:30 AM ET and end on Tuesday, May 12 at 16:30 UTC | 12:30 PM ET and using a transmit power of 10 W. Images will be transmitted at 437.55 MHz (+/- Doppler Shift) using SSTV set at Robot36 mode. The transmission sequence will be 36 seconds on and then 2 minutes off before the next image transmission begins.

Still haven’t been able to capture a clean image from the #iss #sstv event. Good enough for the award though. #ariss does a great job with this and makes it fun to try! #hamradio

Ugh, grey drizzly morning in the UK and I'm awake earlier than I want to be. But, there's an ARISS event on, so I'm wandering my local area with a radio, recording signals from the space station.

437.550MHz today, which is unusual, but my radio can handle it. First intercept of the day at 0958, just catching the end of an SSTV image. Will decode it later to see if it's any good. Now, though, breakfast.

On February 5, 2015 I attended an ARISS radio contact of an Italian school with ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti on the International Space Station.

As a space enthuasiast the first student to ask a question to Cristoforetti, Elena Selmi, was thrilled at the opportunity to talk that day, her 13th birthday, with the first Italian woman in space. Which left Selmi stunned and speechless when Cristoforetti, before answering, wished her happy birthday from space.

Selmi eventually graduated in physics at Oxford and now works on the Bepi Colombo ESA mission to Mercury. At 24 she is the youngest Young Graduate Trainee staff member at ESA's European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) near Madrid. 先ほど2025年1月2日22時25分(JST)頃に受信したISS 国際宇宙ステーションのパスで受信した『#ARISS の2024年を祝う』記念画像のSSTVです.
パスの条件が良く, 今回のイベントで初めてほぼ完全な画像を取得出来ました. パスの終盤で更にもう1枚の一部分を取得. 次はARISS-JapanのSLIMの画像を取得したいです.
