Google Meet oficjalnie w Apple CarPlay. Użytkownicy Android Auto muszą… poczekać na swoją kolej

Ile razy zdarzyło Ci się łączyć na poranną wideokonferencję, stojąc w korku w drodze do biura? Google postanowiło ucywilizować ten proces i zintegrowało komunikator Meet z systemem Apple CarPlay.

Co ciekawe, gigant z Mountain View najpierw zadbał o kierowców z iPhone’ami – ci z Androidem muszą uzbroić się w cierpliwość.

Do tej pory uczestnictwo w spotkaniach na Google Meet podczas prowadzenia auta wymagało żonglowania telefonem, przełączania zestawów głośnomówiących i niepotrzebnego odrywania wzroku od drogi. Nowa aktualizacja przenosi interfejs komunikatora bezpośrednio na ekran systemu inforozrywki w samochodzie.

Bezpieczeństwo przede wszystkim: tylko audio

Zgodnie z przewidywaniami, wersja Google Meet dla Apple CarPlay została znacznie odchudzona ze względów bezpieczeństwa. Priorytetem jest to, by kierowca patrzył na drogę, a nie na prezentację w PowerPoincie. Jak to działa w praktyce?

Kamera jest domyślnie wyłączona i nie widzisz obrazu z kamer innych uczestników. Całe spotkanie odbywa się wyłącznie w formie głosowej. Na ekranie samochodu zobaczysz tylko swój harmonogram nadchodzących spotkań, przycisk do szybkiego dołączania oraz duże, łatwe do trafienia palcem ikony wyciszania mikrofonu i opuszczania rozmowy.

Z poziomu CarPlay nie ma też dostępu do czatu tekstowego, ankiet, podnoszenia ręki czy sekcji Q&A. Google zadbało o płynne przejście – jeśli zaczniesz spotkanie na telefonie i wsiądziesz do auta, aplikacja automatycznie przełączy się w tryb „On-the-Go”, a dźwięk płynnie przeniesie się ze słuchawek lub głośnika smartfona na system audio samochodu.

Gdzie jest wersja na Android Auto?

Paradoksalnie, nowość od Google trafia najpierw na ekrany użytkowników systemu Apple. Gigant z Mountain View potwierdził jedynie, że użytkownicy Android Auto mogą spodziewać się swojej wersji „wkrótce”, nie podając jednak żadnych konkretnych dat.

Aktualizacja dla Apple CarPlay jest już udostępniana globalnie. Aby z niej skorzystać, wystarczy upewnić się, że mamy zainstalowaną najnowszą wersję aplikacji Google Meet na swoim iPhonie. Nowość dotyczy wszystkich – zarówno użytkowników darmowych kont prywatnych, jak i subskrybentów pakietów Google Workspace.
