  1. Making a pavlova for the 1st time. I'm trying to be patient, waiting for stiff peaks in my egg whites but its taking forever. Photo is what the inside of my mixer looks like while whipping egg whites, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla bean paste. On my #Ankarsrum mixer the center spins fast. Movement shows in the photo.

  2. @nguarracino I LOVE this freaking thing. It has changed my whole baking game. No way the KitchenAid would have kept up. #ankarsrum

  3. Reminder for the Pizza Friday peeps:

Make your dough tonight. Let it rise on the counter (in a covered bowl, don't be a heathen) for 2 hours, then chuck it in the fridge until about 3-4 hours before you're going to make it on Friday. The flavor will develop beautifully.

Here's a quick video of my dough getting beaten up in the #Ankarsrum mixer. #food #pizza

  4. Gathering the nerve to make pumpkin scones like @NorcalGma2. Made gf pumpkin muffins with maple glaze. Photo is a pumpkin muffin on a plate, rows of more muffins out of focus sitting on a cooling rack behind it. The really out of focus red thing in the background is my #Ankarsrum mixer. ♥️ #food

  5. Coming full circle with this weekend's baking- for dessert tonight, instead of going to the store for more lemons, I defrosted 6 chocolate cupcakes & frosted them with brown butter frosting I whipped up in the #Ankarsrum mixer. Treasures from the freezer for the win! (Weird how I couldn't serve my MIL a broken cake but will serve her 6 week old defrosted cupcakes. 🤷🏻‍♀️) Photo is 4 chocolate cupcakes with rosettes piped in brown butter frosting. They're on a white plate.

  6. Today's #ankarsrum challenge:

    Making butter 🧈

Whole Foods donated 20-25 half gallons of heavy whipping cream to the food bank. About 15 were left at the end of my shift Tuesday. We were going to throw them out because it takes up space. I snagged one.

Back to the butter. 4 cups into the Ank with the roller, cranked it up to medium high. Took awhile but soon the buttermilk separated out. I strained it & mixed more, strained then washed the butter. Added salt.

    Friends, I made BUTTER.

  7. Made frosting in the #ankarsrum mixer with the dough roller. I was a little skeptical but it made smooth, soft, delicious buttercream. Totally worked. 👏🏻 Used a new frosting recipe (for me.) It's made with Karo syrup, butter, vanilla, salt and a small amount of milk. She explains the science behind it & I love that shit. I'll watch more of her videos this weekend. Not super happy with how the decorating came out but I'll still take photos. Tomorrow. Past my bedtime. #food sugarologie.com/recipes/americ

  8. The new mixer working its magic on #bread dough a few days ago. This is the roller attachment on the right. You'll see me move the roller into the center of the bowl & that's to get everything incorporated. (The only sound is the mixer's motor running so feel free to turn the sound off.) #food #Ankarsrum #Baking

  9. I'm going to be brave today and attempt to make a loaf of gluten free bread. 1st time. I'm inspired by my mother in-law who brought over the saddest, heaviest, shortest loaf of #gf bread yesterday. I toasted it and it was steaming and bubbling coming out of the toaster. It didn't even brown or get crispy. 😆 I threw it away (with her permission). Surely I can do better than that.

  10. I'm so glad I listened to my intuition. I was on King Arthur's site this afternoon and the #Ankarsrum mixer I bought is $50 more. Looked on other online dealer websites & they're all raising prices.

  11. I got the mixer home, unboxed it and after eating dinner, I mixed up some dinner rolls, with a recipe designed for the #Ankarsrum. There's a learning curve. My dough isn't rising. Lol. It's going to be a process until I get something edible.

  12. Just me, cruising Massachusetts with a #Ankarsrum mixer on the back seat. (I'm still in my parking lot of the kitchen store attempting to calm down from the excitement before making the drive back. It's red! What should I name her?? OMFG I can't BELIEVE it!!)

  13. I think if nothing else major breaks in the house & no one's car dies this summer, I can probably save up enough to get my dream mixer by September. IF they don't raise the price of it.

Also, I need things to shake out my way with Baking II class. It starts in Oct. If there's a seat left on the day before, I can take the class free. (I should use the money for the mixer to pay for class & I would sleep better at night, but I want this damn mixer. Can't afford both.) #Ankarsrum #baking

  14. I've become slightly obsessed with the #Ankarsrum mixer over the last month or so. Tonight I shared videos with Husband who is now absolutely intrigued by it. I would love to know if they're worth the hype. #baking #food

  15. So it turns out that making your own butter is very well worth it!
It looks rather like vanilla ice-cream but actually freshly made butter! Also got a lot of buttermilk too.

    The costings...

    1122g Cream (nominal 4×300ml) cost £4.80
    Produced...
435g Buttermilk (Waitrose essential is 31.7p/100ml so worth at least £1.60)
647g butter (Waitrose Lescure unsalted is £15/kg so mine at least £9.71)

Input £4.80 output £11.31 Result Yay, profitable!

  16. With holiday baking on my mind as well as my ongoing desire to bake bread more regularly, I've been thinking about getting an Ankarsrum mixer in the new year. Would be a big leap for me, since I've been hand-mixing and -kneading everything. (I have an ancient Oster Kitchen Center that I pull out every so often, but it's not good with larger recipes or heavier doughs.)

Would love to hear from anyone using an Ank, pros and cons, tips, stories, etc.
