Learning the grammar of animacy. What a sea change of perspective!! English speakers have trouble with other humans’ pronouns, wait until they need to pronoun animals and bodies of water.

@jacethechicken Shakira does her own translations and she messes up sometimes. Like the line about her making fun of the distance in Whenever, Wherever; that's a mistranslation. The Spanish word there is usually "mock" but in this sense in English it really should be "overcome", as in overcome the distance.

Anyway, the wolf isn't anything but a "she" in Spanish; she messed up #animacy in English.
