A man, five scars.

The tail of night,
a crack is heard.
Black stone is rolled,
a flight of birds.

Beloved with
her oils and herbs.
She sees the stone
and finds no words.

Limbus

Tree trunk, stripped bare.
Crossbar, damp air.
Black clouds, crows caw,
perched on nails — gone.

A sign, four words.
No voice is heard.
Cramped cave, stone bed
where herbs lay — bled.

Long wait, dark night.
No candles burn bright.
Hinted return.
But silence — burns.

"Amazing Grace" is a #ChristianHymn written in 1772 and published in 1779 by English #Anglican clergyman, #abolitionist, and poet #JohnNewton. It is possibly the most sung and most recorded hymn in the world, and especially popular in the #UnitedStates, where it is used for both religious and secular purposes. Newton wrote the words from personal experience; he grew up without any particular religious conviction.

About Murder by Decree

Murder by Decree is an #uncensored #record of the planned #extermination of #IndigenousChildren in #Canada’s murderous Indian #ResidentialSchools. While mainly aimed at Christians, I think Rowan William's formulation is food for thought for people who care about the world and want change.

If you are only prophetic, you can sound scolding and shrill.
If you are only priestly, you only focus on reconciliation rather than the process.
If you are only royal, you focus on solving problems.

You need all three - and should watch when you fall too much into one.
