  1. Ya'll. That is dedication to the fandom.

    Literal. Fucking. Tears.

I have never felt so seen to hear someone talk about my work like this. I fucking love this fandom, and I just wanted someone to notice and care that I did, and this stranger on BlueSky, and I'm fucking crying. 😭 💜

Aw, man. I dunno how I managed to figure out how to emotionally numb to shitty comments while also remaining THIS sensitive to positive ones, but I'm very glad for it tonight. I could not be more grateful for it. 💙

This is the article they're quoting, btw. Just cuz why not reshare? It's a reshare moment.

Now, then. I promised an Act I today, I believe.

  2. Today I was asked what I was working on fiction-wise, and I realized why I maybe feel a little overwhelmed. :P

Right now I'm editing two diegetic pieces written or translated by my Final Fantasy XIV characters, including my Allagan adaptation of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar—Ĵwlŷs Kæsar (set in 3AE) by Liam Meri'a Morvelet (5AE), translated by a team led by L. Maxx Arcwolf-Kisne commissioned by his mother Joan Arcwolf-Dhivri (7AE)—and a quantum aetherophysics paper proposing a cosmological model for the entire FFXIV multiverse named the "666 Fractal Manifold Model."

On top of that I'm editing a fan fiction short story about my FFXIV characters on a mission in Dalmasca named "My Brother's Keeper," which is the story of how a Cain-type "big brother" figure does right by his Abel (by choosing to be his brother's keeper rather than shirking that responsibility) even if his Abel is a little shit sometimes.

Finally, I'm working on an original novel called Blank, about a mage with DID (and her fox-man friend) who uses her dissociation to save the world from the First Curse (the Curse of the White—the Araleuk) and a Roko's basilisk-type entity from the Yawning Abyss that is both the cause of our suffering and the effect of our cruelty towards one another named Mhosrow, the Mother of All Abominations, Queen of the Yawning Abyss. The name Mhosrow is a proto-Indoeuropean name meaning "the Maws that Belch Forth."

I don't know how I'm able to keep it all separate, but I guess it helps that it's all happening from the same "framework" in a pataphysical sense. Somehow. In my head. It just works. I can't pretend to understand why. XD

  6. New lore just dropped!

    button

An archaic word meaning “butt,” as in the butt of a joke. Notably, Allagan fashion had not used buttons in several decades, and buttons on one’s clothes had become a symbol of poverty or being out of touch with the times: a subject of mockery and ridicule. The last piece of common Allagan fashion to lose buttons was the undergarment, which retained a button-flap until it was replaced entirely by the advent of the zipper and other magitek adhesives. This is likely how the word “butt” became associated with the human rear end, and later with other objects that taper to a blunt end. Eorzean appears to have adopted the word “butt” in place of the earlier word “arse” some time during the Fifth Astral Era.

    it was Ekkadite to me

In the Fourth Astral Era, many early scribes became proficient in ancient Allagan but had little to no knowledge of the Ekkadite alphabet or language. When a scribe or student encountered an Ekkadite quotation in an Allagan text, they would write “Ekadý pwgt; nå şadag tw’gyv.” Literally, this means “Ekkadite it is; it, one does not read.” The indirect pronoun gyv means “it,” and the contracted pronoun preceding it, tw’, is the direct third person pronoun “one.”

(I guess technically the translation of the second half is "doesn't read one-it." 🤔 )

  7. This arrived in the mail today - my Allagan Tomestone phone charger! I was surprised to see that it lights up while it's charging, and for a few minutes after you remove your phone!
