SINOPSE:
Um suspense psicológico gélido, intimista e profundamente perturbador. A trama acompanha Rynn Jacobs (Jodie Foster), uma adolescente de treze anos extremamente madura e independente que vive em uma antiga casa isolada à beira-mar, em uma pacata comunidade de Quebec. Para todos os efeitos, ela mora com seu pai, um poeta recluso que nunca é visto por ninguém. No entanto, a misteriosa rotina da garota passa a ser ameaçada quando Cora Hallet (Alexis Smith), a senhoria da propriedade, e seu filho Frank (Martin Sheen), um homem perverso com um histórico sinistro na região, começam a cercar a residência, determinados a invadir a privacidade da jovem. Para preservar seu segredo e sua preciosa liberdade a qualquer custo, Rynn se une a um jovem mágico local, dando início a um jogo silencioso e macabro de sobrevivência onde as aparências escondem uma verdade sombria.
