#OTD Albert Spear #Hitchcock, American #Botanist & #Agrostologist, died.A #Dedicated #Plant #Explorer, he once wrote about the #Trials of #Exploring:
"The #Mosquitoes were very bad.
I had to [wear] my coat, put #Cheesecloth around my head, & extra #Socks on my hands.
My #Shoes had worn through, & my feet were #Blistered...
But, for all the discomforts, the #Collecting was #Magnificent, & I felt fully repaid."Albert's #Herbarium & #Library were donated to the #Smithsonian.
