  1. TechWell's #AgileDevOpsCon is coming to Orlando in October and I’ll be delivering two workshops: "Wrangling Your Untested Legacy Code" & "Essential Test-Driven Development with AI/LLM Assist"

Finally! My first in-person conference since...well, you know: "The Before Times."

    *** Use code ADO24SPK for $200 off in-person packages. ***

  2. Excited to be speaking at the #agiledevopscon! If you are planning to attend, you can use code ADE23SPK for a $200 discount. #agile #devops

  3. Wondering about “adopt a scaling framework” vs “have a scaling strategy” (in the Rumelt sense of strategy as problem-solving: diagnosis, guiding policy, coherent action) #AgileDevOpsCon

  4. Thinking that’s there still a lot of opportunity to introduce the idea of product life cycles with corresponding differing goals to the general #Agile #DevOps community. #AgileDevOpsCon

  5. Thoughts from #AgileDevOpsCon:

@kentbeck ’s 3X should really be 4X: Explore, Expand, Extract, Exit

  6. Thoughts from #AgileDevOpsCon:

The more a product leans toward mass consumers, the more difficult it is for product developers to psychologically connect to the problem. Difficulty with connecting to the problem leads to a greater tendency to game the numbers instead.

  7. I think the people-first aspect to #Agile is reflective of a Theory Y assumption about the nature of people BUT I don’t think “people-first” is a sufficient summary of #Agile because that’s only about the assumptions about the nature of people and does not cover the distinct choices in #Agile that reflect other assumptions about the nature of software product development. #AgileDevOpsCon

  8. I wondering if people suggesting that sprinting and recovering is better than an even, ongoing #SustainablePace are relying more on how it feels (aka #DevEx) over how it performs. Granted, this might also be context-specific to product lifecycle. #AgileDevOpsCon

  9. One of the issues I have with defining #Agile using the dictionary definition rather than as a formal term of industry is that the dictionary definition doesn’t include the “nature of software”, “nature of product development” considerations. #AgileDevOpsCon

  10. Wondering about #DORA metrics as a leverage point to pull in other capabilities. So improving #DORA metrics as a way to “act your way into a new way of thinking”. My reflex is that focusing on missions and relevant metrics is better but I’m not sure. #AgileDevOpsCon

  11. I think for these tool presentations I’d prefer if we started with conceptual system models before showing the specific UIs and keep referencing these models throughout. This reminds me of Don Norman’s system model vs user model idea. #AgileDevOpsCon

  12. OH: You don’t want an action created by some Russian guy to be just run.

  13. Is there a law on how every no-code configuration will eventually evolve to a half-ass programming language? #AgileDevOpsCon

  14. For CI servers, event triggering always seemed more elegant than polling but the problem was dealing with all the different version control systems. But now that pretty much everyone uses git and specifically GitHub… #AgileDevOpsCon

  15. Wondering about “pushing everything on the teams” vs teams as the “tip of the spear” #AgileDevOpsCon

  16. I’m not sure these are observer effect issues so much as lack of context for metrics issues (aka no or incoherent strategy) #AgileDevOpsCon

  17. I wonder why we ended up with the DevSecOps pattern rather than the Continuous Delivery Continuous Security Continuous Ops pattern? #AgileDevOpsCon

  18. I don’t think it’s useful to equate “legacy” with “bad”. #AgileDevOpsCon

  19. I’d say culture in transformations is relevant only in terms of how it affects how problems are diagnosed and solved #AgileDevOpsCon

  20. Better Value Sooner Safer Happier seems to be a version of Productivity Quality Cost Safety Morale from the #Lean community #AgileDevOpsCon

  21. Wondering if I should do the “I asked an #LLM to design my talk and this is what I got” thing #AgileDevOpsCon

  22. #AgileDevOpsCon West is quickly approaching and I'm speaking! 23. Is anyone else going to #AgileDevOpsCon? I wonder if there's any tradition or interest in #LeanCoffee outside of the formal program.
