I did another step towards greater self delight on my agender journey.
I can't afford electrolysis or laser hair treatment, so I did the next best thing; full body shaving. Got rid of that typical identifier of my sex assigned at birth.
(And wow, my skin actually feels softer! I thought that was only achieved with HRT.)
I may actually wear shorts one day without being self-conscious and being read as a "guy".

Some men want to be king.
Some women want to be queen.
I will be both. I will be all.

Was able to file my legal name change documents with the court clerk this morning. My county indeed doesn’t require a hearing for this. And since it’s for gender identity reasons, I shouldn’t have to publish it in the newspaper prior to approval.
The only bummer was that it’ll take 2-3 weeks to process. I had hoped it was more in terms of days. But at least I’m in the pipeline!
-
I'm #agender and go by they/them, but often accept he/him from strangers as I don't have the energy to correct them, and I have transitioned to male for legal* and medical purposes. I always correct she/her though, as it really bothers me to be addressed as a woman.
I was hoping I could stop thinking about gender so much eventually, but it's clear it will be with me the rest of my life.
Sigh
* At least, legal at the time I transitioned. Double sigh.

My mind works better on estrogen, my body works better on testosterone, and if I take them both at the same time, it makes me physically ill. Not sure where that leaves me. Seems like there's no winning on HRT right now.

I'm extremely excited about this Friday. For my legal name change process to gender-neutral it, I got the background checks back clean a week ago, and have just been waiting for payday to file the motion with the court.
And Colorado is one of the few states that do not require the publication in a newspaper if you are changing names because of gender identity (abuse is the other reason).
Fingers crossed I get approved soon thereafter so I can keep this exciting train moving forward! It'll be nice to have my old name in the rearview mirror soon.
Meanwhile I've been using my new name everywhere (Hi this is Alex Blah legally Bleh for a while longer). I'm excited, can't ya tell? 😀

Le plus dur actuellement dans ma lutte pour me genrer correctement : c'est la lutte contre moi-même
Des expressions que je déteste comme "'le mec" "le gars" en parlant de moi-même me viennent encore parfois. Et ça m'énerve

So, I wrote recently about how I'm dropping the "agender" label because it doesn't fit me anymore. As part of that, I'm also looking for a new home for some of the agender Pride stuff I picked up over the last couple of years.
I'm not looking for reimbursement for the items themselves. I'm happy to ship these wherever, if you can cover the cost of shipping from the Seattle metro area. I'll put item descriptions in the alt text, but feel free to reach out if you have questions.

I just got called "sir" by a "yOu CaN aLwAyS teLL" type.

Trans Day of Visibility … manchmal wäre ich gern „sichtbar“. Aber ich werde grundsätzlich als Frau gelesen. Ich muß große Titten vor mir hertragen und habe keine auffällig queeren Klamotten. Die Titten bekomme ich nicht los, weil diese OP nur trans Männern bezahlt wird und ich nicht mal eben ein paar Tausend € über habe.
Es nervt, ständig als Frau angesprochen und mit weiblichen Pronomen bezeichnet zu werden.
Ich möchte gern sichtbar sein!

#Trans & #Intersex #History #Africa — Digital Archive
"It is important that we as #African trans, #gender diverse and intersex people speak for ourselves" — #VictorMukasa
"This statement by one of Trans & Intersex History Africa’s (TIHA) founders, Victor Mukasa, speaks to the rationale behind the TIHA digital archive, the history of trans, gender diverse and intersex movements in Africa, and the importance of archiving our histories/herstories/theirstories.
Supporting advocacy and movement building through archiving
We document events and important moments in a digital archive in the form of a visual timeline, as well as audio and video interviews as experienced and remembered by activists on the African Continent and within the #AfricanDiaspora.
As is the case worldwide, the anti-gender, conservative, #TERF (trans exclusionary radical feminist) rhetoric continues to gain strength and influences government policies, law and public sentiment, which impacts trans, gender diverse and intersex people’s lived realities and their fundamental human rights. We believe that the Trans & Intersex History in Africa (#TIHA) digital archive can contribute to the efforts of organisations, specifically those who cannot publicise their work due to threat of financial and legal consequences (which includes one of our founding partners), to ensure that trans, gender diverse and intersex existence and lived experience is recorded. This record will play a part in ensuring the collaborative strength of the African movements in combating the anti-trans, anti-gender-diverse and anti-intersex sentiment on the continent and in the African diaspora.
The TIHA digital archive acknowledges the existence of multiple movements, networks, groups and individuals and that the stories to be told are intersectional and carry various voices to form histories/herstories/theirstories. We are making a start with the information currently available but invite stories in whatever media to be submitted from across the continent and from the many places and voices not yet represented.
While we are in a continuous process of rethinking this important work, we invite you to engage with the information that the TIHA digital archive and Trans & Intersex Archival Conversations present. Get involved! Reach out! You can list your organisation/group, share your stories through the Timeline or through the Talk Show by getting in touch with us. We particularly invite first person stories and can facilitate the sharing of these in various languages."

‘Girl, You Just Gay’ – Daily #Microaggressions Faced By #Trans and #NonBinary #Africans
May 1, 2024
"The #LGBTQI+ community in #Africa has made significant strides in the face of prejudice, homophobia, and discrimination. Despite the challenges posed by punitive laws and conservative cultures, there are efforts to support and mobilise LGBTQI+ youth activists on the continent. However, the community continues to face setbacks, with instances of violence and marginalisation being reported in various African countries. For instance, in South Africa, a country with strong legal protections, violence against LGBT people remains a pressing issue, with at least 24 reported murders in bias-motivated attacks in 2021.
Despite these challenges, there are efforts to advance LGBTQI+ equality globally, including engaging the private sector to help advance LGBTQI+ livelihoods. The private sector's role in respecting the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons is being recognized, with initiatives such as robust business due diligence and human rights-based data collection being promoted to track progress toward LGBTQI+ economic empowerment.
In the midst of these efforts, it is important to acknowledge the specific challenges faced by Trans people and non-binary individuals within the LGBTQI+ community in Africa. While some have found supportive communities, they often experience Micro-aggressions and discrimination within these spaces. It is crucial to address these issues and work towards creating a more inclusive and respectful environment for all members of the LGBTQI+ community in Africa.
Misgendering, Deadnaming, Marginalising
Trans people and non-binary identifying individuals in the LGBTQI+ community face Micro-aggressions from both within and outside the community. Micro-aggressions against Trans people and non-binary individuals can take various forms, including #misgendering, #deadnaming, and invalidating their gender identity. These Microaggressions can be particularly harmful and contribute to feelings of marginalization, distress, and invalidation. Research has shown that gender minority youth experience more familial #Microaggressions, invalidation of #LGBTQ identity, and threatening behaviours (Arijis Q. et. Al. 2023).
"For instance, assuming that all individuals present as either male or female and failing to recognize non-binary or genderqueer identities can be a form of Micro-aggression. Additionally, making comments that link an Individual's LGBTQI+ identity with illness or pathology, or expressing surprise when someone's sexual orientation or gender identity is revealed, can also be harmful Micro-aggressions."

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, and then there is #NonBinary…
International Non-Binary People’s Awareness Day
Published in 2025"In Africa, we have the existence of non-binary as far back as there were humans on the continent. Throughout various cultures. The different languages and terminology such as non-binary, #GenderQueer, #Agender and #Genderfluid may not have existed– but the people were there! There is evidence of different genders on the continent long before #colonisers arrived.
What is Non-Binary
While non-binary people generally identify themselves as being outside the binary of male:female, there are many ways to be non-binary: some identify as a third gender, while others identify with more than one gender, both genders, no gender (agender), being fluid between the genders (genderfluid), or having a gender identity that is fluid and changes. Non-binary people see gender as a spectrum, rather than a binary construct."

I haven't actually written about gender stuff here in a while, I'm realizing. 😅
When I first came out, I did a ton of reading about labels and landed on "agender." My felt sense of gender was a whisper most of the time, and I felt it was more important to me to focus on being myself than to try to conform to a particular part of the gender binary. Even my early transition goals were reflective of this: I remember wanting to avoid breast growth entirely when I first started fHRT.
These days, I feel like the "agender" label is fitting me less. I have boobs, and I *like* that I have them. I haven't made drastic changes to my wardrobe, but I've absolutely added more femme touches. That sense of gender is much louder than it was before, even if it still doesn't feel like it fits cleanly into the binary.
Where does that leave me?
The word "queer" has been a much more regular part of my vocabulary since coming out, and the idea of "queering"—of pushing back on norms when they don't fit—has been a consistent part of my adventure. With respect to gender, then, "genderqueer" is probably the best fitting label for me these days. (I'm very certainly queer in other ways too; I've adopted Nick Walker's "neuroqueer" to describe my neurodivergence, and am certainly some flavor of relationship-queer.)
Anyhow, if you see me using "agender" a lot less going forward, now you know why. ☺️

This just blew my mind:
https://www.tumblr.com/runesinthenight/796309049486540801?source=shareThere was a (small) study about gender identity in asexual people and the person doing it had to completely switch courses of the study because too many participants identified as 'agender' or similar terms.
Never felt so represented in my life

Questions about the #dutch langauge from a learner.
Are there general rules for adjective agreement, titles and pronouns for #genderqueer, #nonbinary and #agender people? How do you write in a way that includes all genders when you're talking about people in general?
What do most educated people do?

#Introduction
Hey, everyone on the Fedi!I'm Eli (pronounced as Ellie).
I'm an #enby from #Mexico and not new to the Fediverse, but haven't been around recently. I had an account at queer.party and, since that instance is gone now, I'm looking to find new connections, so feel free to follow if we share interests or recommend accounts to follow.
I'm #trans, #nonbinary, #genderflux, #agender, #maverique, #aromantic #demiaro, #polysexual, #toric, #enbian, and #polyamorous.
My pronouns are they/them, ze/hir and it/its, interchangeable.I love all things #horror (mostly films) and am very fond of #80sHorror, you can check my Letterboxd out to see my reviews. My fave film is Chopping Mall (1986).
I usually don't watch shows now, I hate when they get cancelled and the story gets no proper ending, which happens a lot, but you can also find me at Serializd.
My reading list is predominantly #CrimeFiction (mainly Nordic) but I also like reading horror, #QueerRomance, and anything that piques my curiosity.
I'm some kind of a #geek and enjoy #FOSS, my main OS has been #LinuxMint for 5 years now, and I have an old laptop for distrohopping, currently using #Manjaro and #Debian. My secondary OS is #macOS.
I also happen to be a #language nerd, I speak #Swedish, #Catalan, and #French. Will mainly post in #English and #Spanish, though.
My favourite #music genre is #IndieRock, but I’d listen to anything, primarily more #indie genres.
My favourite band ever is #kent.
As of now, my favourite artists are: #cupcakKe, #DaltonDeschain, #SoporAeternus, #TwinTemple, #LaCasaAzul, #Enjambre, #Ginestà, #ElsAmicsDeLesArts, #PierreLapointe, #Остава…My favourite animals are #cats, #spiders, #octopuses and #snails, but I don't have any pets.
#ASMR has helped me relax and fall asleep for +10 years now, so I may share some links every now and then.
I love #JigsawPuzzles and every once in a while I do some #puzzling.

Hello, lgbtqia.space!
May I introduce myself?
I'm Andy, an agender, asexual panromantic living in the Cascade Mountains of WA with two nesting partners, two cats, and one German Shepard. I write queer polyamorous romantasy and teach skiing.
I've been on Mastodon for a while as @andyb I was planning to keep the account to be a more writer-specific one, but I'm rethinking that after seeing the character limit on lgbtqia.space is so much higher... (Like, I don't see myself hitting it unless I try to share an entire blog post...) I may well port everything over here instead...
But while I decide that, here's a picture of my cats, Novi (closer) and Talvi (further).

(Re)salut Masto ✨
Fan de Halflives, Against the Current, YUNGBLUD, ONE OK ROCK, SCANDAL, et bien d'autres.
I speak english. Parlo italiano.
