I always thought it was odd that we lump #balance in with hearing (just because they are housed in the ear?).

We have "#accelerometers" in our head just like our phones do!

And we have a 2D "#bubblelevel" like a surveyor uses.

These have nothing to do with hearing of course... but they're on the same circuit/nerve so we lump them in?!

The Utricle and Saccule are the equivalent of bubble levels in your head, but they use tiny grains of "sand" to detect which way is down. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utricle_(ear)
