  2. After exploring Wikifunctions and Abstract Wikipedia to document Pride during Pride Month, I’m now testing another parallel approach: what would a scaled-down, Wikifunctions- and Wikibase-powered Abstract Blog look like?

Glad to share some initial screenshots.

Current goal: generate blog-style content in 8 human languages, inspired by the vision of Abstract Wikipedia.

  3. Wikifunctions and Abstract Wikipedia have immense, still underexplored potential for smaller-language Wikipedias and multilingual Wiktionary projects.

Here, I show how French conjugation tables can be generated automatically.

  4. Some weeks ago, I wrote about my experiments with Abstract Wikipedia. Things are advancing.

This year during Pride Month, much of my Wikimedia focus is on Abstract Wikipedia, Wikifunctions, multilinguality, and how we can make knowledge accessible across languages.

  7. The recording of my @iswc_conf keynote is available online:

Wikipedia and the Semantic Web -- 20 years of co-development, and the future

Drawing on the roots of @wikipedia and the Semantic Web, how they influenced each other during the last two decades, leading to
@wikidata and peeking forward to @wikifunctions and Abstract Wikipedia.

  8. Last month, I was in Vienna to talk about #Wikipedia and AI (and #Wikidata, #AbstractWikipedia, and the Wikidata Embedding Project). It took me some time, but I have now written down most of my talk there in English. Enjoy the story of the owl 🦉 and the bat🦇

  9. #AbstractWikipedia, the project that creates articles from function calls in #Wikifunctions with data from #wikidata in (eventually) any human language is getting to a point where some impressive progress is visible.

  16. Continuing with the hackernews comments critique:
    #AbstractWikipedia is unnessesary because translation:
    * Most knowledge in Wikidata doesn't exist as translatable text
    * Underrepresented language translation is bad, and could be improved with more NLG material (maybe?)
    * Wikifunctions is interesting apart from Abstract Wikipedia, especially if #GlobalTemplates -style functionality could be hacked into it (and why not, it's Turing-complete ^^)

  17. #introduction.

I studied #computerScience and #philosophy. My PhD time at the #KIT was on #SemanticWeb topics. Started #Wikidata, then moved to the Bay Area to work for #Google on the #KnowledgeGraph. I was a community elected member of the Wikimedia Board of Trustees.

Currently, working on #Wikifunctions and #AbstractWikipedia at the #Wikimedia Foundation.

Used to play and write for #DasSchwarzeAuge which was big fun. From #Croatia via #Germany.
