Rogers-Glass-Boyd House
Glass family, circa 1910
According to neighbors, this stunning Queen Anne Victorian home in Dawson, Georgia has been vacant for more than 50 years. The enormous 4,100-square-foot home located on a corner lot was built sometime around 1870 for Judge Harrison Rogers, who came to Dawson from north Georgia. At the time of his death in 1896, 82-year-old Harrison Rogers was one of Dawson’s oldest, wealthiest, and most prominent citizens. He is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson.
The Glass family later owned the property, pictured above. Its last inhabitants were the Boyd family, whose descendants lived in Florida and attempted for years to restore the home with little success. They planned to renovate the house one room at a time, beginning with the first floor. However, the couple barely completed one parlor room before deciding they no longer wanted to live in the home. Several years ago, hurricane-force winds blew over one of the chimneys, causing it to crash through the wraparound porch and narrowly miss the roof. Years of neglect have left the grand home in severe disrepair. Property records show the Boyd family sold the house in 2024 for $37,000. A new owner made several improvements and listed the house for sale in June 2026 for $99,900.
