  1. Yesterday we talked to an old friend who just came back from a longer trip to China and Taiwan. A family-visit actually.

That triggered my inner slide projector. But those days when I was there +35 years ago are long gone. The city and the county as a whole looks and works a lot different.

I never scanned all my slides, but some I found now in the depth of my archives. All of these show working people in or near a park in Beijing. Therefore I called that little series (there are some more) "Work in China" published under "The human Condition" - like we editors handle things.

I was on my own, just with my cameras Contax RTS I+II, Zeiss-glass and my journalistic eye - and speaking almost no chinese. No problem. It was great. There is not one stolen shot, BTW.

I have extremely positive memories especially concerning genuine, friendly people I met in person. That was amazing. And the fantastic food anyway. Sidenote: That has been my personal experience all over the world.

(I wish I could say that for some encounters in the digital web-world nowadays as well.)

  10. What you gonna tell your mum
It's like a wheel of cheddar
What you gonna tell your mum
If this wheel lets you down
    My food is my engine
    And cheese might be fuel
    Stop acting cool
Just bet you might eat it
    I'm not too cool
    We're gonna get you cheese

  11. @jerry Speaking of Duran Duran, this is a great opportunity to make my daily post about obscure/forgotten #80ies and #90ies pop: Of all the tracks they ever released, this one is fairly unknown but remains my favourite: youtube.com/watch?v=A07oZmlIYm

  13. In the mood for unusual/forgotten/obscure pop songs from the #80ies and #90ies?

I certainly am, let me know if you are too by replying and I will post more. I'll start with one of my favourites: Waltz Darling by Malcolm McLaren.

He was more known for being the producer of the Sex Pistols but not that many people know about the productions he released later. youtube.com/watch?v=nFnTo77IV2
