7th Sea has survived three publishers, a d20 conversion nobody asked for, and a record-breaking Kickstarter. Studio Agate hoists the flag for a Third Edition, funded in under 30 minutes and advancing the timeline by ten years. #7thSea #RPG https://l.d20.ninja/NQpFCr

Today, in stuff nobody cares about except me: My 2025 in #RPG. This year, I played or GMed 38 sessions, marginally less than last year, and still a far cry from 2021-23. 🙁
I was a player in 18 sessions, and a GM in 20, a normal rate, but I still didn't get a weekly session, which is what I need.
The 2025 sessions were of the following games:
D&D - 15 (2 as DM, 13 as a player)
Star Wars - 9 (7 as GM, 2 as player)
Marvel Superheroes - 3 (all as GM)
Star Trek - 5 (1 as player, 3 as GM)
7th Sea - 2 (as GM)
Silver Grimoire - 2 (my own setting, WEG D6 system, as a GM).
One each for DC Superheroes, Mystery High, and Never Stop Blowing Up
Nine sessions were online, mostly as GM. I also had to play seven sessions at public events, without any of my usual groups or friends (still fun).

#JohnWick, #L5RRPG #7thSea etc., remains one of the most exciting #ttrpg designers. He deals with the #Daggerheart scene hype, the #Fear problem, in a correspondingly thoughtful way. But he also offers a solution. Fear reminds me of #MutantChronicles #2D20 Doom, which did not work with munchkins.

#JohnWick, #L5RRPG / #7thSea etc., explains nicely the basic #ttrpg #drama / #adventure #formula: protagonists x obstacles x goals Those who don’t grasp this principle can rot in #dungeons next to their #dragons… Just slaughtering and robbing monsters is usually so boring 70/80s. #DnD #OSR

#Ravenloft of Mirrors by #JohnWick, #L5RRPG #7thSea He is one of my #ttrpg designers. He always offers interesting perspectives and, above all, game-enhancing ideas. It is well known that he is not a #DND Überfan, at the same time he appreciates #Ravenlofr. Who doesn't? youtu.be/rz7GCv84k0E?...

Today, in stuff nobody cares about except me: My 2024 in #RPG. This year, I played or GMed 43 sessions, around 20 less than in each of the previous three years. :(
#StarWars #DungeonsAndDragons #DnD #7thSea
27 sessions were in the first half of the year, and 16 in the second, with only 5 in the last three months. :(
I was a player in 22 sessions, and a GM in 21. Huh, I thought I'd GMed way more than I had played, but I think that's because most of the sessions I played were earlier in the year.
In contrast, Player/DM ratio in 2021 was 45/22, 54/10 in 2022, and 37/22 in 2023. I am cool with a 1 to 1 ratio, but I need my weekly fix, and the three previous years I had more than one session a week, this one, I skipped some weeks (not by choice), and the second half and last trimester were far too lean.
The 2024 sessions were of the following games: D&D - 11 (3 as a DM, 8 as a player), Star Wars - 29 (16 as a GM, 13 as a player), 7th Sea - 2 (as GM), and Silver Grimoire - 1 (my own setting, WEG D6 system, as a GM).
Oh, and 13 sessions (all as player) were online.

I have had a bunch of 7th Sea 2nd edition books on my shelf for years now. Never actually played it so this is all theoretical, but I have just now become aware of the fact the system is, I guess, not a fan favorite?
I am puzzled and confused. Perhaps calculating action points from a d10 pool is a bit more work than your average d10 dice pool system, but I always assumed there is a tremendous amount of creativity allowed by using action points on random stuff in the scene.

Been on the fence about 7th Sea's 2nd edition #ttrpg for a while. The gnashing of teeth around it's mechanics have made me question whether it's right for me.
The current #HumbleBundle though may have broken my choice paralysis tho.

My New Year's Resolution is not to play D&D anymore until Hasbro can show they can be trusted... so never. Playing anything else this year. #pathfinder #cypherRPG #7thsea #BladesintheDark #CyberpunkRed

Any suggestions of must play games for me in 2024? @ttrpg
