#July25 1943 — Italian Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini was deposed #Otd 80 years ago after a no-confidence vote by the Grand Council of Fascism.

The "Duce" was dismissed by King Victor Emmanuel the following day and immediately arrested.

A British army surgeon named James Barry died on this date in 1865 at the age of 70; whereupon it was discovered that Dr Barry was a woman, making her the first woman doctor in the British Isles.
