I have one for #GrindayFriday this week. New LP 'We Deserve Extinction' from Tampa's COLLAPSOR is out, and it rips.

People in Florida are definitely gonna know their way around some nasty grind. Some great dynamics in spots on this one, too.

This week's #ThursDeath is this new video by Budapest's VÉR, for their new single 'Paranoia' from their upcoming LP 'A féreg pusztulása' that comes out in December.
Killer song, awesome video. You don't really see as many music videos around anymore, so when a great one comes along, you notice. 🔥🤘

About time I did a #ThursDeath for Umeå, Sweden's BODY MELT and their new one: https://bodymeltdeathgrind.bandcamp.com/album/rapid-body-decomposition
I've listened to this weird, nasty album a ton this year. I do love a concept record, and this one is definitely that- based on the horror movie of same name. Some great, gross samples - good riffs- this is a fun one this year.

Amazing new LP 'Love You More' by The Crystal Teardrop from Midlands, UK.
https://thecrystalteardrop.bandcamp.com/album/love-you-more
'60s psych jangle pop vibes, hints of Byrds, Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, even a bit of Fleetwood Mac. It's basically the Smithereens with a female singer. So you KNOW I'm gonna be about it. Killer vocals, great lyrics, tight band, catchy record.

Hitting up the new Nacho Picasso today, of course
I love finding weird shit that surprises me. This is 'Devil's Night / Dead Internet' from Detroit, Michigan's CREDIT CARD. It's minimal, weird, industrial synth punk sound collage. Kinda akin to industrial like Front 242 or Skinny Puppy. Mixtape, LP, whatever it is, I dig it.

For #MusicWomenWednesday, the killer new LP 'Plus Tax And' from new LA band CRV. Incredible synth lines. Things that made me go 'wow' in several songs. Kinda punk, a wild mix of Amyl and the Sniffers, DEVO, Add N to (X), The Cars, Blondie, Breeders, Pixies. A must hear.

Unbelievably, we get one more Morphine LP, 'Cocoon', featuring archival recordings and some new baritone sax parts. Unreal. Hear the first single now, can't believe I have to wait til December to hear the rest 😂
Might as well hold a spot in my top 20 of 2026 for this, because it'll be in it.

This is 'Violent Winter', the new LP by EARLY GRAVE, and it's a fuckin nasty, raw ripper of a crusty punk record. These are 15 killer tracks that never let up. LOVE this shit.

For #ThursDeath this week, a new slab of disgusting perfection by Prague, Czechia's SNĚŤ. Thought it would be up today, looks like tomorrow now- 2 preview tracks are up, trust me, it's awesome.
https://mesacounojo.bandcamp.com/album/v-ba-in-ch-v-dom
Sněť means 'mildew' in Czech, and this is grimy, dripping death metal of the highest caliber. ‘V bažinách vědomí‘ is a masterful sophomore record.

#ThursDeath this week is new LP 'Rehearsed from Beyond' by Chile's MALT. Malt are kinda deathy but also kinda grindy, it's a wild mix. Quick, raw, brutal it's a blast. And it's horror themed. Done a lot of this one this year.

There's so many amazing new death metal records this year, it's nuts. Many have come out already, but I'm still waiting to hear probably close to 10 albums. There's gonna be some tough calls that need to be made for the end of year lists 🤯
The first LP from Catalonia's CEREBRAL CURSE comes out in November. They just put up the pre-order and first single, which is KILLER and over 11 minutes long: https://rottedlife.bandcamp.com/album/abominant-incarnations-of-sepulchral-depths-2
If you dig death doom, this is gonna be a must hear this year.

#ThursDeath this week is Argentina's NAJASH and their wild new LP 'De Báratros Ustorios'.
https://najash.bandcamp.com/album/de-b-ratros-ustorios
This is blackened death, great aspects of both, but in my opinion, more death than black. Very unique record. Growls and screams aplenty. Some cool, strange shit all over this. I keep coming back to it. And that cover art! 💀

Time I do a #ThursDeath for the new LP 'Hostile Consuming Rapture' by Kyiv's SECTARIAN DEFACEMENT. This is such a wild record- made in Ukraine during the war. It's weird, jagged, unpleasant, and downright crushing. Plus, yknow, there's dripping and bells. It has it all.

Writing about the new Beck single again because I realized what it reminds me of. If you'd told me in 1994 when I got Mellow Gold that Beck would still be making tunes in 2026, I'd have thought you were nuts. But in addition to the Nigel Godrich touches making this new single sound like Mutations or Sea Change or Morning Phase, what it REALLY has is a 'Steal My Body Home' vibe.
Third Wild Pink single from their LP coming next month, this one is "500 is the new 250" and it's another damn banger. Another record I'm super psyched to hear the rest of.

I don't usually like to talk about records until they're fully out and I can hear all of it, but this first single from the Open Mike Eagle/Kenny Segal joint coming in August called 'DOOMED!' is fucking UNREAL and I can't get over it. Super psyched to hear the rest. The beat, the flow of this, fuuuuck what IS it even

A brutal, crushing #ThursDeath this week with debut LP 'Putrescence' by Toronto's COPROLITH. The riffs are relentless, the drums are pounding. The last song is the single, I listened to a ton of it before this came out, and it still strikes me how great it is every time I hear it. What an amazing record. Cavernous as fuck. Easily one of my favorite metal records this year so far.

New Beck record 'Ride Lonesome' out September 18. The title track was a single a couple months back, this is second single 'In the Night'. Nigel Godrich produced, and it definitely has that folky Mutations/Sea Change vibe.

#ThursDeath this week is new LP 'Deracinated into Soiled Reliquaries' by one man Mammoth Lakes, California death/black metal project CABINET. This is a disgusting slab with churning, chugging, dripping, burbling, roaring, monk-like chanting, and piano melodies- and then back to face-smashing riffs. Muck and grime galore. If the gross, nasty riff in track 4 doesn't get you, nothing will. Has to be heard to be fully appreciated.

#ThursDeath this week is awesome new LP 'Flesh of Chaos' by death/thrash (mostly death) outfit CYCLOPIC. Cyclopic only has a couple members, they hail from a mix of Kazakhstan, Russia, and Germany. This is a cool record - maybe Obituary vibes, and I feel like I also some Morbid Angel or other OSDM stuff. And how about that cover art. 🔥

Found a gem today.. debut 'It's Gonna Be' from Philly's HOT MAÑANA. It's like sludgy Devo with Dead Kennedys vibes, maybe? Also maybe some Minutemen? Great lyrics. And just a two piece! It rips. Contender.

Late #ThursDeath this week, it's still Thursday here for a bit. This week is this unreal new DESECRESY record, 'The Secret of Death'. Supposed to be out today, now, should definitely be up by tomorrow, the 22nd, etc. But these 2 singles are great, and I heard the rest, it is too.
https://xtreemmusic.bandcamp.com/album/the-secret-of-death
This one's a big contender this year. Desecresy is yet another Finnish juggernaut, and everything you hear here and the last 8 Desecresy records is done solely by Tommi Grönqvist, who was the guitarist of Slugathor. So you KNOW this shit rips. Dark, chugging, guttural shit.
