This is legal but it shouldn't be. This is the second appointment for the Utah GOP following #2022Elections. The other was House District 1 with Rep. Joel Ferry. This is done so that the seat stays with the party of the resigning legislator, and instead of district-wide voters picking their rep, the party does it. This is post on the #2022elections - it will take awhile before enough complete data is out to make any strong assertions about what happened - they're still counting votes in so much of the US. That being said, I'm very curious to see if there's eventually a connection drawn between the influence of Trump on various races and Kevin McCarthy's 2021 trip to Mar-a-Lago. That trip seemed to end any possibility of the GOP ridding itself of Trump and restored his position as power broker.

Elon Musk used his enormous platform as CEO of Twitter this morning to explicitly advocate for voting for Republicans in the midterm election just as America heads into the final stretch of voting this week.
It's not my business who you vote for, but I think it's fair to describe this move as a deeply irresponsible use of his position and reinforces concerns about objectivity at the company.

Yesterday, I posted about Wisconsin's voter registration deadlines and upcoming primary elections.
Today, if you can, I'd like to invite you a letter writing session to Wisconsin Voters.
Registered voters in Wisconsin must present an acceptable form of photo identification at their polling place. Acceptable forms of ID include a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, Wisconsin state ID, U.S. passport, U.S. Uniformed Services card, Veterans Affairs ID, tribal ID or Certificate of Naturalization.
They're not difficult to get, but people need the information and often need help getting their ID. This letter writing campaign is in partnership with Vote Riders, an organization that assists voters in getting their ID for free.
