Today I used the #c4Model with #Structurizr to show and explain a pretty complex change in dependencies between two systems. Turned out to be a good tool:
- Rather quick to sketch up needed parts of the two systems architectures with the DSL
- Could use tags to show current and desired state
- Great reception by the audience who thought it was an excellent way to describe and communicate the change to be done -
This week I'll be running an internal session on how to use Simon Brown's #Structurizr Lite and the DSL to create and visualise software architecture. Our first MVP of packaged tooling for this has been live for a few weeks now.

I'm thinking about creating an #opensource competitor of #Freescout , but using #NodeJS and #TypeScript as core technologies.
For the past 4 months I've been working as a contractor on a private fork of FreeScout and I can say this: it is a horrible piece of software. It fails at every possible level: maintainability, performance, availability, data consistency, data integrity, many other security aspects... and it bewilders me that so many people are using it, and _recommending_ it.
That said, this kind of software is not "interesting" nor "attractive" _per se_ (although it can be made interesting if enough love is put into it), and I know I'd need external incentives to keep working on something like that. That's why it should be commercially viable, or at least "socially viable".
What does that mean? That I'd be happy if anyone felt any interest on the idea and wanted to work on something like that, this is no project to do alone.
I'm not really expecting anyone to be interested on something like this, but feel free to ping me in case I'm wrong :) .

Thinking about what Ignaz Semmelweis might think if he could see how handwashing may a part of "belief perseverance" for various people these days.
Just as it's foolish to focus on "miasmas" when a disease is spread by surface contact (e.g. puerperal fever from cadaver cross-contamination), it's foolish to fixate on handwashing with a disease that spreads in the air like smoke/fog/mist (e.g. #COVID).

[P] I've been thinking aboit the Rowan Atkinson comment on humour, it still gets under my skin. "Every joke has a victim," Rowan says, "that's the definition of humour." Such spineless cowardice. It isn't because he's wrong per se, but because he leaves out the most important part. A brave comedian doesn't need to rely on the sociopathy room. The victim of humour can be one's own self, safely, without harm.

The SE/30 was one of my grail machines, because I had a regular SE, and I always dreamed about having a machine that would be ~3+ times faster ;)
The color classic was so adorkable. I remember seeing 10" trinitrons on fancy pay phones in the early 90s and thinking, "Why can't Apple make a classic mac with THIS screen??" Surely enough, they did!
It's funny now that I so fondly reminisce about #monochrome interfaces like #ClassicMacintosh and #OpenLook / #OpenWindows, because back then, I literally dreamed of having color, especially the #Amiga! ;)

I was just thinking of a devices like this today (Bluetooth speaker with microphone) to try and use to pair with my tivo stream 4k (similar to fire stick, but it runs more "stock" googletv with more apps). Wanted to try to pair it so we could do Google meet video calls from the couch. Would need something like this though in order for the people on the other end to hear our voices, via the microphone on this thing. Then id need to also try plugging in the USBC to usba plug and plug in the usbA web cam to see if that works too.

Nessa onda de substituir o gmail e o google agenda que tenho passado, pensei o seguinte
- hoje, em tese, qualquer um pode criar uma conta no #mastodon de forma que esta é relativamente comunicável de acordo com a instância, assim podemos usar o mesmo como identidade digital no sentido de mandar e receber mensagens (tipo caixa de email mesmo)
- Se o #activepubsub é um protocolo em si, organizando, daria pra fazer algo tipo um calendário? Dai teriamos envio de mensagem e agenda, faltando só uma solução descentralizada pro #meet
