Such a good and important point!
“Unless you fall off a cliff, there is a 100% chance that you will become disabled. Multiply so. Both short and long-term.

    Remember that.

Because the accommodations you're designing? They might be for you.”

How best to send this out far & wide & deep into the world? 🙂

  8. @Impossible_PhD I'm in your situation, and had a writer friend turn me on to #Duotrope. The agent search there is really powerful, and you can get specifics on who responds, and how long it takes, and often they accept/reject work.

I've been surprised at the number of agents there who are either queer or actively seeking LGBTQ+ voices. Anyway, it's another "jumping off point" for you to try (free for a week, $5.00 per month if you like it).

  9. @Impossible_PhD Fionne's crowdfund: gofundme.com/f/fi039s-quotfix-

Reactions in 2020 were all over the spectrum, polarized the "trans community", but most strongly in the "cancel" realm.

    "Verisimilitude" refers to The Aesthetic | ContraPoints - youtube.com/watch?v=z1afqR5QkD - time:07:33

Where this issue is debated rather vividly.

As for #asymptotic, that's just my adaptation to the situation you described. At some point we all just have to be happy with how we look. You be you!

  14. @Impossible_PhD Guess it _is_ a bit unconventional. Happy to explain any part of it, if you'd like... Main thought is that the pursuit of a particular physical appearance is #asymptotic - you can get closer and closer, but you will never exactly reach the goal. There will always be yet another increment available... You can choose at any point to believe you are "close enough". And in my experience, that's what the people I care about respond to.

  19. @Impossible_PhD Your struggle reminds me of Fionne Orlander and the 2020 "Fix a Brick" campaign. I guess I'm odd, but when faced with issues of physical #verisimilitude, I retreat from the #asymptotic edge and focus on my mental evaluations of my situation. People respond much more readily to how I feel about myself than how I look.

  24. @be @Impossible_PhD

I met my rescuer in high school -- the first person to convince me I had worth as a human being that wasn't tied to "achievement" as the grups presented it. Her name was Jenny. (See #JennyHypertwin) She herself was ultimately crushed by a similar set of expectations -- that her only option for success in life was to marry a doctor, have his kids, and "mooch off his income". She was an artist, a writer, and a thinker, and did not want to do any of those things.

(She was also @Harena 's li'l sister and we both miss her terribly.)

  25. New book: "Nameless" by Zoe Ann Wendler (@Impossible_PhD)!

Impulse-bought because queer cyberpunk in Minnesota, what's not to like?!
