  6. @diazona @kevinbowen

    Thanks for the confirmation.

I still don't care for it; web-based fora are, to a one, less usable, less #accessible, and less searchable than mailing lists (with web-based archives) or newsgroups. And so, so much #slower to try to read or skim through a day or week's worth of messages.

    It's in PEP 8:

Always surround these binary operators with a single space on either side, assignment (=)...

Don’t use spaces around the = sign when used to indicate a keyword argument, or when used to indicate a default value for an unannotated function parameter...

When combining an argument annotation with a default value, however, do use spaces around the = sign...

PEP 8 is for the stdlib, you can ignore for your code.

  8. @diazona @libreivan Thank you for your thoughts, apart from (2) which is disabled on most browser setups (e.g. mullvad-browser, arkenfox) I totally see how just typing some words in the address bar might be enough and using bookmarks for stuff you want to check one later. I got so used to extension that the builtin bookmarks feel sluggish. But I will try to change my behavior and see how it goes.

  9. @diazona Indeed, #Linux allows over-mounting, an artifact from UNIX days. Try "mount --bind /original /mountpoint" to create a mirror of the directory tree. It gives you the power to manipulate file paths in novel ways. Exercise caution, power comes with responsibility. #OldSchoolUnix 👴

  10. @diazona Eventually… 🙂

I've got a few things in the next fortnight (a #concert next week-end, and another #EmergencyCommsExercise event the weekend after -- actually the event this Python project is for) that will occupy what spare time I have.

Once those are through, I should have some "me time" to work on this stuff.

It may also be possible the`setuptools` plug-in architecture doesn't lend itself to doing this, I haven't researched this.

  11. @diazona Thanks, sorry for the confusion. The post you replied to is 2/3 in a thread in which the top post says: "You effectively make them co-owners of your content." The sentence in 2/3 relates to that previous context, but it is not as clear as it should be. Secondarily, not sure, but the rationale could be along the lines of it being you that is reproducing the copies by posting your content. Mastodon may simply be the technology you are using to do so.

As long as you come back for the weekly discussion on each chapter that's fine :)

For now, my strategy for limiting myself is to have another gripping series to occupy me, currently on #WheelOfTime book 5, #TheFiresOfHeaven
