I've had a few reports that #MastodonAppUk and #Universeodon are playing up again with IPv6 since the maintenance I had to do yesterday which involved a full reboot of all our servers.
I'm fairly busy with other commitments today but will take a look when I can.

So some good news for #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon folks
The issues with IPv6 are now resolved, we now have full IPv6 support which should be working for everyone now, apologies for the blip earlier - I had added the AAAA record to turn on the connectivity but had missed a firewall configuration so traffic was getting blocked.
For reasons that I cannot explain, in enabling native IPv6 support for the site it looks like the slow uploads and timeouts and "Unknown errors" some folks were seeing with media uploads appear to have been resolved. I'm going to continue to monitor the logs closely to see if there are any further issues but I'm hopeful we should now be in a good place.

I'm aware of an issue with IPv6 across #MastodonAppUk and #Universeodon which I am working on. I made a config change while on the way back from Brussels to try to fully enable IPv6 support but it doesn't seem to be working so anyone who is primarily using IPv6 may be having connectivity issues. I've only recently got home so will be working on the issue shortly once I've had time to unpack some of my things and exist at home!

For the folks on #Universeodon we are now updated to the 4.5 release which brings with it quote posts.

Just to note as well for folks on #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon
I am still looking into this issue with media uploads, I'm so far struggling to pin down a root cause as for most folks it's an intermittent error and I haven't actually found any errors in our logs yet other than what is returned to the apps / clients.
As soon as I can get to the bottom of it I'll get it sorted properly so media uploads work like normal again.

Sorry for the blips there to #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon - I managed to bork some of our HAProxy configuration in a bit of a stupid way.
MastodonAppUK is now running a single web server on the new cluster so I'm hoping that should make things feel a lot more responsive as I've removed some of the hops we were going through.
Tomorrow I'll get the other two temp web servers stood up, an additional for MastodonApp and an additional for Universeodon and get all the old servers on the old cluster decommissioned which should then mean all traffic is hitting our new owned dedicated hardware in the new environment!

Good Morning, I had hoped to get a better nights sleep last night but alas I've just sat in bed coughing every time I was dosing off so decided to just start the day and take a nap later so as to not entirely disturb my partners sleep.
With that in mind I'm going to attempt to shortly fail over the #MastodonAppUK Database to our new infrastructure, when I checked last night the replica was looking healthy and in a state where failover should be possible, I need to do some checks and then if all looks good will get things switched over.
I'm hoping to do it fairly soon before most folks start to wake up so hopefully it'll only be the early birds or folks in other timezones that will notice!

Apologies folks on #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon - It looks like we're seeing and have been seeing for the last week or two some issues with certain operating systems and clients trying to upload media to the sites.
We're currently (over the last 5 days) seeing around a 45% failure rate for iOS and 21% failure rate on MacOS devices.
It's not clear what could be causing this and it seems to be impacting multiple clients as far as I can see on my end.
I will continue to investigate and see if I can get to the bottom of the weirdness.

Just as a quick maintenance note for #MastodonAppUK
I do need to perform some maintenance fairly shortly to move our Redis instance onto the new server environment, as part of this there will be a short outage while I move the data across and update our various configuration files but I'll do what I can to keep the downtime to a minimum.
There is a maintenance alert now live on https://status.atlas-media.co.uk which I'll keep updated with the details.

Just to share for #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon folks.
I'm about to grab some lunch and then I will need to start work on the network upgrades, this will unfortunately involve some very short outages while I move the VMs and containers from one app server to another in order to take the app server offline for work. I'm not expecting it to be really noticeable but it will result in some blips.

I'm now at our DC for the new servers, I'm about to start maintenance. I don't expect anything I'm doing to cause an outage to either #MastodonAppUK or #Universeodon though if things do break it's probably me pulling the wrong cable or something silly like that!

Just to note that's maintenance full complete, there wasn't any downtime / interruptions as far as I or monitoring could detect.
I have added some more maintenance for #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon now on https://status.atlas-media.co.uk to try to track some of the work that is currently prioritised for the instances.
I do also have a load of work for med-mastodon that I need to get around to doing.
Now however I've got a boat load of @atlasmediagroup work I need to crack on with.

MastodonAppUK and Universeodon Maintenance:
I'm going to be getting us upgraded to the latest patch release for Mastodon shortly, I don't expect this to cause any sort of noticeable downtime or impact as we can do the upgrades one server at a time.

I've made an adjustment to the #Universeodon infrastructure this afternoon to try to improve the traffic and the responsiveness of the site.
We seem to be having a lot of issues at the moment with connectivity between our new environment and the old environment.
I'm hoping this same change should reduce a lot of the traffic we're trying to route back and forth between the two and should hopefully make #MastodonAppUK a bit more responsive as well.
I am hoping to have some time on Sunday to make some further improvements ahead of the maintenance on Monday which should allow me to once and for all finish the migration in the near future!

Urgh, my #HomeAssistant server decided to break on the latest update for the first time and seemingly isn't recovering from a reboot.
I guess this might be the good excuse to try out my #JetKVM devices I had backed ages ago as I can't SSH into it and really cba with trying to connect it to my desk keyboard and mouse.

Happy new year to all, I hope 2026 is a great year for everyone and everyone is as happy and healthy as they can be.
It's been a nice quiet one with @PrinceMumbles and I having a quiet one at home and getting to watch some surprise fireworks that were going on not far from us which made a really nice start to the new year.
We ended up spending a lot of the day watching #JetLag / #JetLagTheGame which has been a great treat!
