To anyone thinking of buying #JetKVM, DON'T. Early on, this thing didn't even support static IP, only recently added support for manual config. To this day, it still doesn't support local-only use. It requires an active public internet connection, otherwise, you can't even open the settings, they will be grayed out and unclickable, isn't the very reason I need to modify the settings because I have to debug and tweak the network?! In short, JetKVM's product designer is a complete fucking idiot.

Oh, here is my recovery point! I completely forgot that #JetKVM has #WakeOnLan capabilities. I'll leave it powered on and connect to my #HomeLab VLAN. That way, I'll have a device to power on all my other servers in case of stranger things.
Context: I'm preparing for a week-long vacation far from my #HomeLab.

Today I installed my second #JetKVM in my desktop pc. Not for remote management. For some reason my pc won’t freaking shutdown correctly anymore :catto: And every time I had to crawl under the desk to kill it. Now I can do this from the comfort of my chair. What a time to be alive :blobcat_bonk_googly:

Why can I not connect to my #jetkvm via its cloud service #jetkvmcloud over #firefox but over #brave no problem at all .. any ideas most welcome.

Been trialling a handful of JetKVM devices for enabling console access on lesser servers but hit a snag. No documented / cyber friendly way of segmenting these devices where they belong into a mgmt VLAN :(
Otherwise a rather slick implementation.

Urgh, my #HomeAssistant server decided to break on the latest update for the first time and seemingly isn't recovering from a reboot.
I guess this might be the good excuse to try out my #JetKVM devices I had backed ages ago as I can't SSH into it and really cba with trying to connect it to my desk keyboard and mouse.

#gnome #login screen, after #boot into #nixos , is not visible using #jetkvm . This is very remarkable: the one point where a remote user really needs access i.e. login , is precisely the one time #gnome + #nixos decides NOT to put out an #hdmi signal to the #kvm . This is sod's law in spades gone orbital. Why is nearly everything an edge case ? Is using a kvm really so unusual that gnome does not make it work by default? #nixos Is this deliberate for security reasons ??

Is there a way of setting a #boot process of a laptop running #gnomedesktop to make display settings at boot of a fresh #nixos #iso #usb installation such that the #hdmi output is set to #mirror the output so that a #kvm #jetkvm device shows the laptop main display at boot and not the useless empty extended part of the display ?

Finally getting around to connecting the #jetkvm units I ordered ages ago! They’re slick little things and I’m impressed with the lack of fuss.
Got this one connected to my #NAS box below it.. will probably connect the others to a couple of my mini PCs and eventually a Mac Mini M4 for inferencing. Bonus is that these trigger the video out which can be tricky for some boxes if there’s no display connected.

How would you enable #clipboard sharing from a physical remote IP KVM (like #JetKVM) to the local device?
Specifically: how can clipboard content (like copied text) from the remote machine be transferred back to your local system while using the KVM? -
And that last ssh hack ... that is what is really wonderful with this #JetKVM device. it is hackable!

I've finally had time to play some more with the @jetkvm
Gee, that is a cool tool! And it works very well, even over a VPN connection. For simplicity in my setup, I just allowed my VPN client to have access to all ports on the JetKVM device.
@librewolf has issues with the WebRTC streams. But works fine with Ungoogled Chromium.
The virtual media functionality is definitely going to be a very nice rescue tool, if the host doesn't boot up - getting into some rescue image will definitely be handy.
And for this kind of remote "backdoor" when a host doesn't respond - this is definitely performant enough.
This device is definitely worth the price!

run and the # command prompt of the kvm itself.
access the kvm on the remote tailscale machine as follows:http://localhost:8080
seems to have worked but flaky... testing continues

Anyone got #jetkvm working on #tailscale so you can use the machine to which the #kvm is attached from outside your local area home #lan network? i.e. when on the road. I am nearly there but get connection failure every time.
