Today I spent a LOT of time solving AoC2024 day2 puzzle.
I solved it in three ways:
1. Javascript, just how I normally write it (somewhat functional programming)
2. A fully FP javascript solution
3. clojure solutionI realized some interesting things:
1. the functional programming js solution was very pretty and clean, and I think js is pretty good at FP. (I'm just learning FP so maybe I'm wrong)2. the effective LOC of both clojure and js solution were exactly the same, and I think in the cleanliness and readability department they are very similar. But maybe that is because I'm much more used to js
3. The effective LOC of the functional solutions were almost half the LOC of the "normal" solution
Here are the solutions

Today I gave #lapce editor another chance.
It took me about 5min of messing around with it to realize it is simply not ready yet, as much as I want it to be.The UI is way too buggy, my keyboard wasn't working(!) And the plugin ecosystem isn't ready yet as there is no plugin manager.
I hope it gets ready one day as a better vscode alternative.

I just completed day 1 of #AoC 2024, I know, I'm late to the party but I am learning #clojure so thought I would learn better if I did something with it.
I will be uploading my solutions to github as I go forward, And I will probably be using multiple languages to solve the puzzles, to get better practice with different langs and also compare them.

@ericwastl
Hi Eric, We all love AoC and thank you for it.I got two main issues with it though.
Why is there a mandatory github/google/reddit login? These are all very privacy hostile platforms, so it means someone who cares about their privacy can't enjoy AoC. Couldn't there be a more privacy friendly option for login?And why is #reddit the recommended place to ask for help, while reddit is heavily guarded and closed? I don't have a reddit account and using it seems impossible in the last year or so, as it doesn't allow users without accounts to even view posts. I am simply not able to view anything from reddit.
Can you please instead recommend #lemmy for the AoC community? It's open, and everyone can see the guidance and posts in there without a "firewall" or login needed. -
