The tower at Pisa is actually built on a slight incline and people tilt in photos to make it look like it's leaning.

Point in time.
It's October 2006. I'm driving a brand new Ford hatchback car through the city of London (the financial district) late night. It's my first car, even though I'm 34. I passed my test at 19 but haven't driven since. I recently took lessons again to get back up to speed but basically i'm relearning to drive, without the need for a test as I have a license.
In the back is my toddler, Tom, blissfully asleep, both of us giving his Mum some respite at home. She is 9 months pregnant, tired and ready to drop. I'm trying to get my head around driving her and two small children about in London, with zero driving experience to my name.
I'm putting in the hours of practice now because at some point in the next few weeks, for the first time I'll drive her, and all of our most precious cargo, from the hospital home with our new baby. I need to be confident, I need to be ready.
I've popped in a CD of electro tunes as I cruise through the abandoned skyscraper district of the city, trying to build my confidence and this tune comes on.
Wet London streets in October, reflecting lights, glass buildings all around, no traffic and a slick electro soundtrack making me feel like I'm in a car advert. I'll be alright. I'll be alright.
(the tune in question was Model 500 - Nightdrive. Reader, I was alright)
Model 500 - Night Drive

I think my street may be haunted. Victorian children, no phones, living in the moment.
(The moment in question was probably about 1901. My house is in the picture, I'm currently sat about 20 feet from the child in the centre)

Nobody has nabbed it so #PointInTime it is.
Post your memories, as at the time, under the # if you feel like sharing point in time memories ❤️
(I don't want to vibe police but talking in the first person/moment, is a fun format)

I just kind of did it randomly, but I really like the concept of a Point in Time post.
Remembering and reliving where and who you were at a particular time and what you felt then.
Now is irrelevant. What you were and felt in the moment is the point.

I'm in a taxi at around 6am, in New York, in February 1994, on my own.
I've just stumbled out of a nightclub (The Tunnel) high as a kite and a long way from home, a home where I'd recently met and bonded with the most beautiful person in the world. I am head over heels in love and will feed handfuls of coins into the YMCA payphone to hear her voice, today and tomorrow.
My head is resting on the cool glass of the taxi window, as movie scenes roll by. Steam rises from grates in the street like it did on TV. Yellow cabs and sirens.
I'm 21, fucked, and just rolling through New York without a care in the world.
(Note: To this day I don't know how the cabbie got me home as I had no idea where I was staying, but he did)

I have to say, reading my own timeline and replies, I sound a lot more interesting and out there than I am.
I'm not lying, but it's the edited highlights, missing out all the time staring into space, aimlessly wandering about the house trying to remember what I was supposed to be doing and wondering why part of me hurts now (a very frequent occurrence).

I just re-watched the first episode of People Just Do Nothing (a BBC comedy show, a mockumentary about a hapless pirate radio station).
In my opinion this is the tightest, funniest, first episode of a sitcom/comedy series I've ever seen. Doesn't waste a line or moment, perfectly draws the characters, their relationships and the tone of the show, but still tells a 30 minute story along the way that stands alone.
I've watched a lot of comedy shows but IMHO this is a masterclass in how to announce yourself.

Once again its #JukeboxFridayNight and we're doing
#LoveAndKindnessThis is a beautiful song about old love, love that has been tested but still remains despite hard times and life changing
It's one of the low key most romantic songs I know, I've always loved it
Billy Bragg - Brickbat

Unexpectedly bonded for life with records on first listen, my initial list:
Black Dog Productions - Bytes
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Actress - R.I.P
The Strokes - This is it
Peaches - The Teaches of Peaches
Shangaan Electro - New wave music from South Africa
Wild beasts - Two Dancers
Aphex Twin - Ambient Works vol 1
Aphex Twin - Ambient Works vol 2 (who knew someone could ambush you again on the same theme. Genius) -
I'd love to hear about albums or tunes that captivated, surprised and delighted you unexpectedly
Tag them #LoveAtFirstListen if you like
An example for me is Actress - R.I.P, blew my mind, still does. Knew nothing about it, came home, played it, changed my life (musically)

Listening to the B-52s debut album tonight. Such a great calling card for an original and vibrant band. I was drip fed their work over the years before diving in
I got thinking about those who bought it at the time, not knowing what to expect and getting this experience raw and unprepared
I've had this a few times, bought something with little or no expectation or prior knowledge and been blown away on first listen. As a music lover these are truly magical moments

I have to ask Bruce. Were you always passionate about accordion 🪗 music or did you just go down this path as #AccordionHistorian rhymes? Be honest

It's the legendary Jerry Dammers birthday today so what better reason to play this seminal tune from the 2Tone era
This sound reverberated out of all the older lads bedroom windows on the estate I grew up on in 1979. This and One Step Beyond by Madness were the sounds of my early years, exotic, angry and fresh compared to the pop music of the time

Yes! It's finally here, Shy by Max Porter (a signed copy no less, don't you know).
Absolutely love this author, highly recommend his work, a unique voice in contemporary British literature.

Past Mat did future Mat a solid. Just received an email saying that a signed copy of Max Porter's latest book, Shy, has been shipped. Past Mat is the best.
Absolutely love Max Porter. Grief is a thing with feathers and Lanny are both exceptional, insightful and poetic books. Would recommend if you like contemporary British literary fiction.

Art Lovers in London between now and May 7th, I highly recommend a visit to the Hayward gallery to see Mike Nelson's Extinction Beckons
We went on Friday with little idea what to expect and it was fantastic. Immersive and thought/feeling provoking
If you like to have a little smoke of the old marijuana I imagine the 2nd room in particular would be even more intriguing, but not necessary to enjoy it (that was not how we saw it, just a serving suggestion if that's your thing)
