RE: https://social.jvns.ca/@b0rk_reruns/116211974384398125
This is like the best thing since sliced bread, at least to a networking geek like me! I have this little script called `use.sh` that I use (x2) to put a couples of NICs into a network namespace just so I can test routing performance or similar tasks.

Oh, and we merged Banana Pi BPi-R64 support today! 🎉 It's a bit older but still very capable, not to mention affordable little router.

On a mission to improve our blog, today I added some more bells a whistles to get post preview on social sites. Let's try it out here!

So we've since reverted now that we've learned about the new LTS cycles. A bit late, but at least before we did our release 😅

Dammit, prices for the Banana Pi R3 has spiked on AliExpress to almost *double*! 🤯

So, Infix OS has been upgraded to #buildroot 2026.02 LTS well in time for our 26.03 release. We've actually been tracking it since -rc1, so this was more of a formality to rebase and rerun our regression tests. Mattias (lazzer) worked relentlessly on this, while still managing to do a ton of other things as well.
Looking forward to our next release, hopefully my BPi-R64 porting work will be done by then as well 🤩

It’s really not that difficult #stringtheory

Today we finished another huge milestone for our little operating system. Another release of a completely open and free system based on Linux.
A task that just twenty odd years ago would have been extremely hard to pull off. We’ve managed to do it for three years now, and with a small yet highly skilled team.
Automation, and designing the architecture for automation with YANG, really is the key to our success.

CW: Boring post about yet another network operating system, Infix OS.
Hope to soon share a blog post on how we've adopted and are now in progress to promote the #Banana_pi BPI-R3 to tier 1 status in #infix it's quite an affordable #SOHO switch/router and home gateway.
Infix?
Infix is a 100% YANG based OS for embedded (networked) devices that you can control remotely using #RESTCONF and #NETCONF

The great thing about watching some TV shows is they remind you of old classics. Like this one: https://youtu.be/qxZInIyOBXk?si=IINLIiQi0MIqAMs0

Allow me to present yet another release of Finit, your friendly alternative to systemd 🥳
https://github.com/finit-project/finit/releases/tag/4.15
#finit #init #pid1 #OpenSource -
After more than a decade, it’s time to do some profiling of #finit and systems using it. And of course the profiling tools themselves need a lot of love

@moggen wanted to add utf8 support to mg first, but that was more work. LOL
Should work with https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/examples/UTF-8-demo.txt

Amazing, my addition of DHCPv6 client support made it to Infix OS! Funnily enough, one of the regression tests I added for this was consistently failing on two of our HW test rigs. Turns out it was ... DNS. The clients tried to ping an fqdn where dnsmasq only returned an AAAA record. Things went smoother when I added a dummy A record 😄 (dummy = invalid IPv4 address).

Still, having left the 🚀 and Information Age behind us, rushing head first into the (r)Age of Machines, we still have healthy debates on tabs vs spaces

Really hope I get some sleep in tonight. Been out of sync again with the rest of the world and it’s starting to get to me.
I mean sure, I get a lot of stuff done, but I don’t get to meet up with a lot of people. So it’s quite a bit isolating.
Yet I try so hard to stick to my routines. Maybe I’m not really made for 24h life?

So we made another release, nothing fancy, like the big operating systems out there. We just did another LTS bump of all critical components, fixed all the high-severity bugs, AND added support for yet another platform, the Banana Pi-R3 this time.
So, nothing spectacular, just plain boring stability that you'd expect from a critical load-bearing component in your stack.

Me in a nutshell:
*listening to really old playlist of #ASOT classics, 000-500*
- "Yeah really disted sound, checks out ..."*three days later*
- "Wait a minute, the #bluetooth headset audio profile is set to HSP/HFP ... 😩"So no I have to go back and relisten *again* 😄

Is it legally binding? No? Yeah guess what, maybe I don’t owe your company anything for using my #ipensource software for free!
