All the travelling and food in #Japan is great and all..
But apparently my mind misses cooking. Last night, woke up from a dream where someone was demanding that I bake a bday cake in 45min... I was like... "sure... I think I can do that". On waking I looked up a recipe and it might have taken an hour to do in reality, but it was one of the stranger dreams I've had lately... O_o #RandomRecipes -
Another in the line of recipes to hide and use up bits and pieces. This time a rolled baked cabbage in garlic, smoked paprika, thyme and cayenne pepper flavoured tomato sauce. Loved the idea of mixing in already cooked rice. I've made this before with raw rice, and it never seems to cook all the way through (properly). #RandomRecipes #JobsDone

The process of using up everything in the fridge before a trip is a little challenging, but with all the bits and pieces you can throw into a cottage pie (like meal), it gets a little easier. The top was 90% pumpkin, and so didn't get quite crispy enough, but it was super tasty none the less. #RandomRecipes

Tis still the season for gluttony as the 2023 Bdays kick off. Youngest requested #yakiniku and a cake that had ganache. So I had a go at making Dominique Ansel's Peanut Butter Chocolate Crunch cake.
It was all delicious, but none of us can eat another bite....so....full... 😁👍#RandomRecipes #JobsDone

When you get told that buying apples at the supermarket was a waste because the kids don't need school lunches for a while... you can always make apple crumble....o_O #RandomRecipes

@acedtect just caught up on latest #DTNS editor's desk and wanted to say thanks. The realisation so many years down the track that you need to move past or adapt from the short term personal project to something bigger is a huge challenge. You've got a great team of ppl, and I hope you find the missing pieces to bring it all together. I also hope that enables you to make "your" content. Can't speak for everyone, but your content/perspective is the reason I've been listening since BOL days.

CW: There were 5 ppl sitting in a room. In the same room there was a basket w/ 5 apples in it. Each person took an apple, but 1 apple still remained in the basket. How could this be?
The fifth person took the entire basket, with the last apple still in it. #HowDoYouLikeThemApples #RandomRiddle

Did my bit for Xmas dinner. A rice salad. Seems like sacrilege from a Japanese perspective, but, should be a nice healthy option to add to the gluttony. #RandomRecipes

@DeciTM it's fine... I have this (addiction) totally under control... I certainly have not spent hours chasing around a world to find a beetroot, nor more hours trying not to die in noob vaults... #NotAddicted #CanQuitAnytime #Minecraft #SlightlyDelusional #VaultHunters

In Australia children are only allowed the 2 Covid doses, but Japan requires a 3rd for entry. Does this require special permission to get 3rd dose in Australia? -

#KoreanOkonomiyaki, not pajeon. A thick boy! Simmered lentils & sliced mushrooms in gochujang & chicken stock. Finely sliced cabbage/carrots into a slaw. Blended oats, lentils & plain flour with baking powder and s&p.
Took a cup of flour mix, a good handful of slaw, a few tbsp of the lentil/mushroom mix, an egg, a good glug or two of chicken stock, a heap of kimchi & stired it together.
Cooked on a smashed bulgogi beef pattie. Topped w/ kimchi mayo, katsuobushi & kimchi

Dinner is often the end result of a collection of random choices. Had butternut pumpkin to use up so I chopped it up & started roasting it in the oven w/ some garlic & thyme. Then in my cast iron I diced & fried onion, mushroom & cauliflower before adding tomato paste, deglazing w/ white wine. That went into a larger pot with a few blended cans of tomato & some chicken stock. Then crumbed & shallow fried chicken thigh slices in parm, panko, flour, s&p. All topped w/ parm #JobsDone #RandomRecipes

The smell of meat loaf is a wonderful thing. Again have swapped out a majority of the "meat" with lentils simmered in chicken stock, carrots, potatoes, pumpkins and bay leaves, but I think that the tomato sauce glaze is going to bring it all together. #RandomRecipes

Left over cabbage salad wasn't appealing for lunch, so inspired by #Japanese #okonomiyaki, added a cpl of eggs, about a cup of 50/50 lentil/oat flour, good glug of chicken stock, heap of my wife's freshly made kimchi, and some frozen veg. Stired & fried off on my cast iron. Topped with mayo & hot sauce mix, then sprinkled with bonito flakes.
Now it's a MUCH MORE appealing lunch option 😁👍 #RandomRecipes

So nice to have the smells of a freshly brewed #NaturallyProcessed #Coffee wafting around the strangely cool kitchen. With so many people focusing on #Washed coffee these days, the natty is a bit of a rare breed, which is unfortunate. Love the complex sweetness it offers.
