  1. I feel like these spams are actually making fedi safer because they expose servers that are unsafe and force people to block them

Nice job and thank you spammers (?)

  2. I just suddenly realized we went from 20 something stars to 68 stars for the #terrapkg repo:

  3. Updates for Terra Rawhide had been suspended for the last ~2 days since upstream Fedora was assigning new keys to their Terra 41/Rawhide repositories afaik.

We are currently in progress of "reviving" Terra Rawhide, progress is alright, rebuilding stuff right now.

    Warp Terminal Review
Kinda a "review" on my experience since
@[email protected] recommended me to try it out.

    The goodies
The most impressive part: they've managed to stuff so many "bloat" (/pos) into the terminal while using only 150M of memory (1 tab opening btop) while konsole uses 175M. With 2 tabs opened, warp uses 164M while konsole uses 195M.

Other stuff includes "workflows" which is a powerful version of quick commands in konsole, except you can add "parameters" into the workflows and you can run different set of pre-defined commands with it.
(Personally I don't understand why this exists when you could just make shell scripts… but I think it might be useful for some other people)

Regarding the AI part, I didn't really try using it extensively but I think it'll be at least useful in some way. The suggestions seem to be pretty accurate actually, unlike some other AI that thinks the Earth was a cube.

    The Bad Stuff
    - Broken themes even if you use nerd fonts; weird rendering issues (I think this is because it doesn't actually respect
/etc/fonts/local.conf?) Using the same font I use for konsole doesn't fix the issue
    - All your shell shortcuts won't work, including stuff like hitting
esc twice for the sudo prefix
    - It relies on the
ctrl+J shortcut to execute a command, meaning you can't customize the ctrl+J shortcut in your shell to do anything else (I actually set ctrl+J to list out all files in the cwd)

    Conclusion
Warp is for people who are not too familiar with the terminal, not for people like me who theme the shell and change the shell behaviour to an extreme extent…?
I will consider recommending Warp to developers who are new to Linux, but personally I don't think I will choose
warp-terminal over my good old konsole.

  9. I'd like to take the chance to remind everyone that I don't like managing packages in #terrapkg. I'm not good at package maintenance, I don't want to manage 200 random packages, and I am a programmer, and I don't want to spend time on doing boring things that people without programming knowledge can do.

Packaging takes time, and your help can make me dedicate time on other Ultramarine / Fyra Labs projects that requires programming.

Start contributing to Terra by reading
the devdocs here. No prior experience required obviously.

  10. I'm finally not the only one working on #terrapkg

  11. Currently we are having some issues with #GitHub CI where our updates in Terra are not auto-committed properly somehow. Around 10 packages have been stuck in CI and they have been marked as outdated by #Repology.

  12. Making mkproj, a tool written in #Python that automatically makes a "project" (including anda.hcl, the .spec file and the update.rhai script for #terrapkg.

Should be able to finish this in this week. Hopefully.

  13. Terra Rawhide is out! As usual, you can install it via the command on the website:

    sudo dnf install --repofrompath 'terra,https://repos.fyralabs.com/terra$releasever' --setopt='terra.gpgkey=https://repos.fyralabs.com/terra$releasever/key.asc' terra-release
We will branch off Terra 40 once Fedora 40 is branched off.

  19. @Linux_Is_Best #UltramarineLinux maintainer here

We no longer provide #Cutefish edition now. Cutefish edition has been deprecated since UM37.

This change is due to unattended maintenance work from the upstream, making the desktop environment extremely buggy, which made UM get a lot of bad reputation.

Sorry for any confusion, and I hope you all can enjoy your own Ultramarine install!

  20. We'll have a decent chance that we'll rewrite #HeadPAT since it's been stealing for over half a year.

And if we'll rewrite it I might do it in #NimLang or #Rust or #GoLang.

    # Nim
    - mostly a test for seeing how good it is to have nim in our infra
    - nice syntax nice perf (comparable with go?)

    # Go
    - Lea will like it /hj
    - simplistic
    - we love goroutines and channels

    # Rust
    - stop the segfaults
    - we have experience?
