@sleepyfox I was being facetious about the spelling. I’m a former jitsuka.
The product is literally called jujutsu so unless you can convince them to change the name, it’s likely to become the tag. I will happily use #jjscm but then no one will find it.
I used to get lots of Body Dysmorphic Disease posts on the #bdd tag on Twitter. You tune them out. Or you could replace your tag subscription with a search for #jujutsu - “jj”. That might work.

It's like Tennis, but it has no balls.

. @sleepyfox People make the mistake of translating #TaijiQuan (or T'ai Chi Ch'uan in the older Wade-Giles form of Romanisation) as 'Supreme-Ultimate Fist', which makes the speaker sound very arrogant :)
Although correct as a strictly literal translation, a more idiomatic translation would be 'Yin-Yang boxing', or even 'Daoist boxing'.

@ecomba @sleepyfox As a ginger I can categorically say that I would not survive that. My thinking all my cognitive processes would simply grind to a sticky, messy halt.
Just call me Sergeant Detritus #NightWatch #TerryPratchett

@driusan @sleepyfox now, give me a #hakama with substantially higher linen content (or hemp) for summer practise and a super dark brown (preferably naturally dyed) cotton one!
Could be tempted by a heavily dyed kakishibu one too :)

As it turns out, the European Cucuteni-Trypillia culture invented the #Taiji (or 'Yin/Yang) symbol a thousand years before its earliest appearance in China.

@thirstybear My reading of #SpecificationByExample was that it was simply an approach to the acceptance testing part of #BDD, not that it was 'inverting the pyramid' nor seeking to replace unit or integration tests.

@RaymondPierreL3 I mention #Taiji (but not #TaiChi) in my profile, so maybe that's it?
-
@RaymondPierreL3 No, that was not intentional.
I didn't mention #Taiji in the toot. -
If you want to "tread on the spear", then your first step is not to get skewered.

If someone says they're doing #Taiji but it looks like they're doing a Mr Roboto impression, then they're not doing Taiji.

Today was World #TaiChi day, so we did some #taijiquan in the garden.
It turns out it is surprisingly difficult to get a good still photo of Push Hands training (Tui Shou), but this one is at least amusing.
Push Hands trains sensitivity, listening, adhering and following skills; how to receive and redirect force without tensing up and resisting using strength.
It embodies a key principle of #Taiji, that of "Investing in loss", learning from failure rather than becoming obsessed with 'winning'. -
Now is not the time to #HODL

The use of the #kodachi or #wakizashi in #aikido is often overlooked. The shorter maai gives us an easier transition to empty-handed techniques, and the awkward lack of lead hand alignment in hidari hanmi is avoided.
Plus you can practice with lower ceilings and not break the lights :) -

"I know Tai Chi, I've done the form."
I'm not sure where this idea comes from.
It's a bit like saying "I can play Stairway to Heaven, so I've learned everything there is to know about playing the guitar"...
Taiji is a rich and diverse martial art, most styles have several empty-hand forms, plus a variety of two-person drills or forms, and several short and long weapons forms.
Learning a form, particularly the standardised 24 Yang style is just the start.

#Taiji is one of the very few disciplines that explicitly states this from the outset "invest in loss", but really it applies everywhere.

. @Mastodon please stop suggesting all lower case hashtags or moving them to the front of the list, when PascalCase alternatives are available.
Even better, if they aren't available, suggest them anyway where the constituent words of the hashtag are dictionary words.
#Accessibility is a great example, if I type #Accessi then the only screen readable hashtag in a veryyyyy long list is #AccessibleGaming
The very first suggestion even turns my initial capital into lower case!
You can do better!
