TODAY: @RoRInstitute UNDISCIPLINED workshop.
Enjoyed this opening slide, via HEFCE, using fruit to set out some definitions

Read myself and @RoRInstitute colleague Anna Butters on distributed peer review
We enjoyed writing this, and I think it gives a good, albeit very short, review of the context of funders having to make hard (impossible?) choices on what to fund

Excited to share that later this month @RoRInstitute and @aimos will launch the new #MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) platform, offering open peer review of articles in the field of metaresearch.
Together with Kathryn Zeiler, I will serve as Editor-in-Chief of the platform. Other collaborators include @aidybarnett, @alexh, @andrebrasil, @jameswilsdon, @jasonchin, @stephenpinfield, among others.
See https://researchonresearch.org/metaror-launch/ for information about our launch events on November 21 and 26.

The teams of @aimos and @RoRInstitute are working hard to set up the MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) platform for publication and peer review of research in the field of metaresearch, or research on research.
We just published a short piece in #EASST Review to introduce our plans for MetaROR to the science and technology studies (STS) community https://www.easst.net/article/metaror-a-new-form-of-scholarly-publishing-and-peer-review-for-sts/.

Following up for this, I've written a longer piece for the new @RoRInstitute #Metascience substack
https://researchonresearchinstitute.substack.com/p/the-point-of-no-return
My minimal claim is that, contra Schweiger, it is very hard to definitely claim any scheme a waste of time and money, since the full costs and benefits of awarding funding in a particular way (e.g. by competition) are difficult to account for

Excellent talk by @cwts colleague @andrebrasil about the #MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) platform that is currently being set up by @RoRInstitute and @aimos https://youtu.be/n1RkNLNgYuE?si=6tmE4m4IXvBMj1Kr.
Thanks to DST - Centre for Policy Research, IISc, Bangalore for organizing this webinar in #OAWeek.
By the way, note the close alignment between the #MetaROR philosophy and the 'Towards Responsible Publishing' proposal presented earlier this week by @cOAlitionS_OA https://www.coalition-s.org/blog/introducing-the-towards-responsible-publishing-proposal-from-coalition-s/.

The competitive #researchfunding system is at breaking point. In our new Perspective, Peter Kolarz from @RoRInstitute argues for whole system transformation, as innovations to address ongoing problems will not suffice.

How do countries assess research? With spreadsheets, committees, metrics - and increasingly, soul-searching. A new @RoRInstitute study compares 13 national systems and maps a quiet shift: from 'publish or perish' to 'be useful, be fair':

No silver bullets, just a very thoughtful typology.
