Venice day 1: both my favourite terraces, ten exhibitions and pigeon shit on my sleeve.
First things first: If you want to have a cup of coffee by the Grand Canal without going bankrupt, try cafeterias of Ca'Pesaro and Ca'Rezzonico museums. Note: there's a bridge from Ca'Rezzonico vaporetto stop straight to the terrace, but not all maps show it.
Lorna Simpson and Jenny Saville were impressive (totally recommended), Marina Abramovic not so much unless one is really into crystals, Lydia Ouhramane subtle and beautiful (do read the leaflet), Kiki Smith cute, warm and brilliantly displayed, Helter Skelter interestingly, even though a tad old-fashionedly, political and Glasstress is always an interesting and beautiful showcase of use of glass in contemporary art.
Do remember that pigeons can shit on you even in covered places, like terraces. Should this happen at Ca'Rezzonico, there's a toilet large enough to wash the sleeve in privacy and hand dryer strong enough to dry it in a few seconds. So that you know.
