#WritersCoffeeClub 2. Do you have plans for your next work yet?
I should really be getting back to working on book 7 of my ongoing urban fantasy series, The Wheel of the Year sequence.
On the other hand, it would be good to finish writing my collection of short stories, Tales From the Demi-monde, as I don’t think I’m going to be comfortable leaving it unfinished even though I’ve got at least four months’ worth of stories in reserve.
There’s always a worry that something could occur which would interrupt my schedule and I’d hate to be forced to miss publishing them online on my website as planned.
So, I think that’s decided, finish the short stories before picking up where I left of with book 7.
That’s what happens when you commit yourself to doing a serialisation…

#ScribesAndMakers 30.09. What was the last song you listened to?
Belated post
These days I don’t listen to music that much except for when I’m driving.
I tend to favour Jazz FM for that, even though it’s questionable whether some of the stuff they play actually counts as jazz.
Listened to a couple of cracking tracks yesterday, Every Day (I Have The Blues) from Count Basie & Joe Williams and Birdland from Weather report.

#ScribesAndMakers - 3rd Oct. Is there a common thread throughout your creative work (apart from the fact that you created it)?
To date everything I’ve written has been set in contemporary times except for a couple of short stories in Tales From the Demi-monde where the tales are about the character’s younger selves.
I tend to concentrate on magic and the supernatural weaving in references to mythology and folklore.
My two light novels are an exception as they feature evil criminal masterminds and there’re no overt references to anything which could be considered to be of a supernatural nature.

My Word of the Day today is CORVINE. Share YOUR words to describe this picture in the comments!
Corvine, from Latin corvīnus, derived from corvus, crow, + -īnus, of or pertaining to.
Meaning of, pertaining to, or characteristic of crows or ravens.
The picture shows a close-up portrait of a raven with dense, jet-black plumage, where the bird is looking directly at the camera.
Caw! I’m just craving to hear some corvine calls…

Yesterday was all about stones. We’re visiting Cumbria for a break and yesterday morning visited Birdoswald, the site of the Roman fort of Banna, part of Hadrian’s Wall.
The picture shows Mrs. Author standing in front of an impressive section of the stone wall, it stands about eight foot high, roughly two thirds of its original four metres. In the afternoon we visited a very different stone in Carlisle, the Cursing Stone.
In local folklore, the Curse of Carlisle is a 16th-century curse said to have been invoked by Archbishop Dunbar of Glasgow in 1525 upon cross-border families, known as the Border Reivers, who lived by stealing cattle and pillaging. For the millennium celebrations, the local council commissioned a 14-tonne granite artwork inscribed with all 1,069 words of the curse.
Following the installation of the stone, Carlisle suffered floods, foot-and-mouth disease, job losses and a "goal famine" for the football team.#WritersOfMastodon #TalesFrom… #SecretLife… #HowtoSucceed… #Author #Novel
