    I intend to watch "Genie" because i like both leads a lot. "Uncontrollably Fond" was a favorite.

    My take is that people in general often don't realize the cultural significance of names, places, clothing, forms of address, etc. until you actually live somewhere and try to integrate. Maybe they were insensitive, but I doubt it was intentional. And we all get to learn from the mistake.
